just got the part of Little Red

My schools doing Into the Woods this year and I just got cast as Little Red.
Do any previous Little Red's have any advice that they could give from their experince??
ConverseSneaker

She's the typical little girl you'd see on the bus who thinks she's all that and has the mouth to match. Rude, bratty, "nothing can happen to me just because bad things happen to other people" and incredibly naive. At the beginning anyways.

That exterior slowly starts to fall apart when the Wolf gets the better of her. So now instead of "nothing can happen to me" she becomes "nothing is going to happen to me" armed with knife, wolf coat and a clear idea of bad and good.

In act 2, black and white turns to shades of grey and now she's this vulernable girl who's not sure which way to turn. She needs to mature throughout the show.

I know, I know, that was long, but it's the entire base of her story. I'm a writer and actor so I tend to go deep into characters and I feel I know her better having played her. Congrats on getting the part of Little Red!

Where as I haven't played Little Red (I'm a techie by nature ;]) but currently my school is putting on Into The Woods and I have to agree with everything ConverseSneaker said. She's this bratty little girl who has no sense of fear at one point in time. She doesn't really have a sense of sympathy either untill she is eaten by the wolf. "For all I know she's already dead" she's charming as well. It isn't untill she is confonted by the Witch and after seeing three people die in Act II that she turns sympathtic and doesn't want to kill the Giant.
I could go deeper, but I think I'll stop my self there. =D

You should really make it your own! Don't try to be like everyone else that has played the part and see the character with new eyes.

When I played Littlle Red, my director wanted me to really play up her naive and innocent side. What really gave me inspiration was reading the original Grimms fairytale. In it, it said that she was well loved by the village. From that, I imagined her as so spoiled, coddled, and over-protected making her ignorant of any danger around her.

You have to also remember the original intent of Little Red's story is to tell little girls to watch out for "wolves". Little Red's story has sexual undertone to it, it is really shown in "Hello Little Girl", so it is important to play that part of it.

It's a really fun and challenging role to play so enjoy it as much as you can! Also, be ready to skip until your feet fall off! lol

Thank you so much for all your help!

The show was last week, our school loved it. It was great to see a lot of the people that thought it would never happen, be proven wrong.

As our schools first ever musical.... first ever anything theatre related it was amazing to be a part of it.

I thought I'd share some pictures from the show with you guys.
