basically i just got Hope Harcourt in our high school spring production of Anything Goes and i have read through the script,looked at pictures and heard the music but i would love some insight on what the part is all about & costume& hair ideas would be very welcomed.. i am a theater nut & super excited to get this part( it was the one i was hoping( haha that's kind of a pun i guess * i hoped for hope* for ) :] yeah im a geek in fact im writing my character sketch right now.. but yes any ideas would be welcomed

I played hope a few years back. be careful not to play her as a doey eyed ingenue..she isnt. she is a sophisticated socailite with a wild streak. she and billy after all had sex various times in one night in a taxi cab!

she is very proper ,very elegant,but she is also in a loveless marraige arrangement with Lord Evelyn.

look at pictures of some of the fmaous socialites from the 30s for your "look". peoplel ike brenda frasier, or actresses like carol lombard,jean harlow or ginger rodgers.

exactly...if you do it right. so many girls think she's the typical ingenue, like salome said. when i was in AG our hope did a pretty good job of spicing her up and making her more than meets the eye, while keeping the gorgeous voice, face, body, grace thing going on.

the scene with hope and billy "five hours in the back of a taxi cab" was priceless! i loved it
