Since I don't know a lot of people here( Embarassed ) Should I still make votes for the few that I do know a little about?

I don't know a lot of people either so what I did was go though some of the topics and looked at members posts and profiles and than cast them as who they reminded me of!

I hope that helps! Very Happy

Yes, this is what I did too.

Question: are we allowed to vote for a person twice in different roles? (i.e. putting someone down as both Gus and Skimble) as long as we have at least 21 different people on our list?
Quaxo!

I wouldn't advise it, but I suppose you could if you didn't know who else might fit the role. Wow! Speaking of being cast in several different roles, I didn't know people had such different oppinions of me. Alonzo, Pouncival, and Mistoffelees. I suppose they do all have similar personalities. Though I'm glad to be voted for any role, really. Cool

Answer to this one is NO. We had to limit this to only once because people would flood the casting with the same name or small queue of names. A person's name can only appear ONCE in a ballot, and only ONE ballot...

Thanks to everyone who casted me so far. I know I'm not as well known as some of the other fans, but it's very nice to be included. I will be happy with whatever I get, but since I have been Quaxo twice, I hope I can get someone else. Cast me as whatever you want, but I see myself as most like a few including: Mungojerrie, Demeter, Bombalurina, Jemima and Alonzo.

Thanks guys!
Alonza0

Hey all! Just a reminder to everyone that I will be doing the unofficial tally over at freewebs.com/forumcasting.

For everyone who doesn't know, the unofficial tally serves three purposes, more or less:
1) Let's you know who's winning for which character before the official tally,
2) Let's you see the full tally, and
3) Lists all the members and their previous roles to help you fill in all your blank spots

If you need any help navigating the pages, PM me or e-mail me. In the mean time, happy casting, everyone! My list will be up in the next few days.

That is so cool thank you for doing that! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

*collapse* Hoo boy- been working on my list. It was actually somewhat easier with all the chorus kittens before, since I'm getting quite a few folks that would fit in them, but man, I'm glad we shortened the list for the reasons already discussed before.

And to Alonza0: awesome, that's all I can say without my brain imploding right now. This is how summer kills my brain. It pitches a fit when I have to tweak and sort and all. But anyway, the unofficial tally = a godsend.
Mungojerrie_rt

Looks like I'm being listed with quite a variety. But seriously, Bombalurina?! Shocked
jarrod001

Do we put anyones name down?
Not that I'm just gonna put some random persons name for all, but what if they don't want to be a part of the forum cast?
Alonza0

Quaxo! wrote:
It is *Way* easier to fill the girl parts. If I think of more people to fill empty slots, I will. (if that's allowed...Is it?)

Yup, it's allowed. You should leave a note though, saying that you've added someone for ___ part. And it's also nice if you leave the date, that way you don't confuse the tallier.

jarrod001 wrote:

If they haven't come on here and said "don't cast me," you're allowed to cast them. However, you should limit it to members who post on the Cats board fairly frequently. Also, I believe the rules say that you should only cast members who have been active in the last three months. Does that help?

Mungojerrie_rt wrote:

Lol, that's what I thought when I saw the Victoria vote! I would never have thought I'd be cast as Victoria, lol.

I'm glad I can save brains. Thanks for the feedback. I like feedback. Very Happy

thank you

thank you all so utch i love you all
The Drama Queen

Haha, Mungojerrie_rt- I feel for you, because you are a boy, right???

I've noticed this happen several times....everyone might want to be more cautious when casting males in female roles and vice versa. For the chorus cats its probably ok, but a male Bomba? Laughing Sorry, it just seems weird!!!

And thanks for all of the votes for me! I think I've gotten 6 votes for 6 completely different characters so far...If it helps you guys, I think that in real life I really act like Etcetera a lot. I bounce around to different groups of people, and when I'm with my friends I have tons of energy and am very silly Smile However on the boards I might come across as different...so vote however you like!
Belle

Well, the idea of the forum casting is to match personalities to characters, so the person's actual sex is irrelevant!
Quaxo!

I try to put in Females for Queen roles and Males for Tom roles, but I have trouble finding active guys that match my thoughts about certain Toms. The Queens, I had no trouble with at all. But I suppose in the overall run of things, Gender really doesn't mean much. Idea

That's right, gender doesn't really matter much here, it's personality matching really.

I personally have a hard time finding folks who'd really fit Macavity or Growltiger, heh. I'm pretty disappointed I left a few blank, but those are the ones I usually have trouble with before anyway to fill out. At least for the most part I'm really adamant about who I cast as who, I did a lot of checking, double-checking, tweaking when needed, etc...so I'm rather proud to say I didn't just slap it together.

Now if only I'd do that much double-checking with schoolwork and stuff. Rolling Eyes
Quaxo!

Wow! I didn't really think of myself as the loud, obnoxious, Tom-crazy etcetera Laughing ! Bustephen, what made you think me to have that sort of personality? please tell.
Bombateazer

First of all I would like to say thank you to everyone who has voted for me so far!
Second of all - am I learning anything from this years casting? Yes - the possibility I have a multiple personality disorder...
2 votes for Dem
2 for Tanto
1 for Cassie
1 For Tugger (Hell yeah baby!!! Ok I'm female, but that casting made me happy!!!!)
1 for Bomba (Again, hell yeah baby!)
1 for Jennyanydots...

So really I'm a skittish, mystical, aloof, motherly flirt...

Haha now I remember why I love casting so much!
*Goes off to work on list*
Vice

Hmmm... I've got some for Munkus. O.o Cool?

Just a note, I still come here often... but I tend to lurk more now. I'm glad that people still remember me... ^^; I haven't been too vocal lately. (Busy w/ my own production actually. And, yes. I'm still doing that CATS production.)
Eponine_Thénardier_08

Alonzo hmmm thats different...

Thanks to everyone who has voted for me so far! Very Happy

I wouldn't say you're loud and obnoxious, rather, your posts always sound cheerful and energetic. Reeza also mentioned you to me earlier today, and you sounded just as excitable.

Also, I'd like to thank all the people who've named me in their lists. I was almost positive that I'd get shut out because I'm so new here, but with a little luck, I may just end up as an understudy! Wink
Tigress

First of all thank you to everyone who has cast me so far.

Second, and don't get mad, I really don't like seeing all of the blank spots in everyone's lists this time round. They shortened the list so that it would be easier and there are still blank spots. That's why it was shortened in the first place, b/c people kept leaving blank spots.

I really urge all of you to go back and just find a name to throw in that blank spot b/c if this keeps up we won't have any kind of a list left TO cast.

If you're having trouble finding out who all is active then go through the most recent threads (which was mentioned earlier) and find some names. I know that's what I did and it really helped.

Well anyway...I'm sorry if that sounded harsh I'm really not trying to be mean I just don't want the list cut down again. In fact last time I opted to expand it to include Johnathan, George, and a few others who are in various productions such as "Olive", a name I've heard floating around for a while. But alas that never did nor ever will happen.

Anyway thank you all again and good luck.
Reeza

I agree with Tigress, but I wanted to add something. If you do fill in the blanks, leave a date or let Alonza0 know what you changed, because it's easier on her with the tally, and it will be more accurate. I know she can say this for herself, but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone changed theirs right away.

Hehe. No problem.

And thanks to everyone who casted me so far. I have a very interesting tally going. Happy casting, and good luck everyone.
Rallers

Hey, I'm not happy leaving spots open either, but like I said, the ones I left blank are ones I almost always have trouble with anyway. So folks can stay off my case about that. I'm all up for tweaking my list of the blank ones but right now those are the only ones I felt "...hm, yeah, I didn't bullshit this" over.

Edit: And for the record, yes I did all the checking for activity, looking at active threads, digging through anyone who has been active, so on. I think part of my problem was not following the usual castings: MsJellicle as Jellylorum, Rumblepurr as Old D or Gus, Flitterbug for Macavity...goodness forbid I tried to make it a little different while still feeling like it suited. Shame on me. Of course it would've been easier, but I'd feel just as guilty if I kept solely with that. The folks I put the characters to suit some or most of the details of the character. So it's not like I went "hur okay I'll just make it harder for myself that'll be FUUUN".

There is one minor problem here... if I am not notified, the VOTE does NOT get counted... PM or E-mail me if you edit your list, please. Unofficial tallies, no matter how much they are appreciated, are still that - unofficial...

Ah, really? Well I guess the 'obvious', then, since you got the role last time and everyone's voting you for Macavity again.

So obvious/usual/etc. Anyway, I didn't think I was too off in what I was trying to say. Oh well. I'm just waiting to get chewed out. Can't remember the last time I got my head bitten off here.
Tigress

Ya know what, yall can just get as pissed off at me as you want. Lord forbid I try to help the group in not getting cut any farther but hey, if that's what you want then fine just forget I ever said anything.
Alonza0

I'm not mad at you Tigress... *hug*

And I'm very sorry Rumblepurr, I'd intended to refer to you in my previous post, but it ended up being a quick, running-out-the-door post, so I didn't get the chance. My bad.

And, if I may suggest, another method you could use to fill in blank spots is to use the Member History page over on www.freewebs.com/forumcasting. <- Shameless plug. But I really find it helpful to see all the members names in one place, and to see who used to be what. I have a lot of, "Oh, I haven't put them in yet!" moments. So that could help, that's what it's for, after all.

That made my day, especially when I remembered Flit's (or at least I think it was...?) old site about Skimble's... *ahem*... unmentionables. Ah, Skimble.

And, so nobody's offended by the fact that I'm still a no-show in the ballot thread, I promise I'll post my list this weekend. I like to take my time and think things out, and I usually include reasons as to my choices, so it's taking me a little while longer than I expected.

Wanted to thank those of you who've cast me even though I just popped my head back in recently Smile I'm trying to not go brain dead atm doing a lighting design for The Wiz but I'm gonna try my hardest to look at everybody's posts and put together a cast list here because I think you all deserve it Smile It will be interesting for me as there are so many new faces from when I was here last, but I'll give it a shot and hopefully put people in the place I see them as Smile

I sure am. It's our "Rising Stars" show... meaning almost everyone (Dorothy, Evillene, Aunt Em, and Glinda) is either in middle school or high school. I'm assistant stage manager... and we have a cast of 56.

*dies a little*
Vice

I was in a production of The Wiz in April. Very Happy Love that show.
Balurina

haha Nemi that sounds exactly like me, I'm doing the lighting design for a children's theatre group..it's a cast of about 50 11-17 year olds. We are kindred spirits atm Nemi hehe and this week is gonna kill me I have to cue the show *cries a little inside*
littlemisstheatregirl

I just wanted to say thanks to the few of you that have already cast me. Smile It's nice to feel loved. I don't post in the Cats forum too often, but I lurk around here quite a bit. I did the show about two years ago as Tumble and had the time of my life; it's nice to see people who love it just as much as I do!

Hopefully the forum casting will spark some interest and some new posters...
jarrod001

Thanks a bunch for casting me, I thought I wouldn't be at all! I've gotten all different cats it's really fun.
Alonza0

Hey all, just wanted to let you know that as of late tomorrow the unofficial tally will be on hiatus and will be for five days, as I'll be on vacation. If anyone would like to take over for those five days, please PM me. Patience and Freewebs experience are the only requirements. I don't expect anyone to be interested, so expect a hiatus. Just so you know.

*sympathetic wince*
I stage-managed a production in the spring (more or less got suckered into it) and barely survived. The cast was only about 12 people, all but one were older than me, and I do believe I uttered more profanity during the show's three-night run than in my entire life up to that point.
Working with an enormous number of middle and high school students...well, I can't even imagine how painfully hard it is to herd those cats in the direction you want them to go.
Balurina

LOL herding cats is about the best term I can think of for it, trying to get things done is like pulling teeth as they all have the attention span of a gnat. Smile
Moongewl

Not to mention the respectfulness of a monkey flinging poo. I actually had a fight with one of the actors DURING the show and through headsets because he wanted to know why a light cue came in early. "Because it damn well did" was why, and he should've been getting his next costume on, but he decided it was his job to give me crap for it. And that was a 22-year-old. If I were working with teenagers, some of them would probably have bloody noses because I'd eventually resort to violence.
Nemi

Moongewl wrote:

Well, all the CATS cast was at least in high school, with several (Demeter, Tugger, Bomba, Tanto, Jelly, Gus, Alonzo, Jemima, Mungo, Rumple, Electra) being in college/going into college, a few (Jenny, Bustopher) being right our of college, and two (Old D, Griz) being much older with families.

But they're all kind of haughty and hard to work with because they think they know everything... I love them. Razz
Alonza0

Nix the hiatus. littlemisstheatregirl has oh so generously offered to take over the unofficial casting while I'm gone, so continue to check for up-to-date casting information. Plug -> www.freewebs.com/forumcasting

Quaxo!

You know, After watching the movie of Cats, and paying more attention to Tumblebrutus, Especially during the Kitten Squeal part of Curious Cat, I think I would much rather be cast as Pouncival than Tumblebrutus. Then again, maybe He just wishes he were more like RTT, and is very admiring of him.

Anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about... Watch The movie of Cats, and When Rum Tum Tugger is doing all his crazy stuff with his hips, and the kitten girls are all gathered around him, you can pick out Tumblebrutus in the background, sitting directly behind the circle of girl kittens. Watch his face and actions.

Yeah, these ties are getting really complicated. I'm currently 12 different characters, so I have no idea what I'll be. The most votes I've gotten for any one character is 4 for Jemima (yay!). It's a tie right now though.

Just curious- has anyone else been cast as 12 or more characters?
Mungojerrie_rt

I've got 12

Alonzo
Coricopat
Growltiger
Mistoffelees X2
Mungojerrie X3
Munkustrap
Pouncival
Rum Tum Tugger X3
Rumpleteazer
Sillabub
Skimbleshanks X2
Tumblebrutus X3
Quaxo!

I only have 7 different characters:

Alonzo
Electra
Etcetera x2
Mistoffelees x2
Mungojerrie
Pouncival x4
Tumblebrutus x5

I suppose It's cool that I have as many votes as I do, seeing as I only joined a little while ago, and haven't posted much.
Rallers

I'm rather sure I have twelve as well.

The ones I had multiple votes for:
Sillabub - 3
Mistoffelees - 2
Tumblebrutus - 2

The rest:
Alonzo
Etcetera
Jellylorum
Jennyanydots
Rumpelteazer
Electra
Growltiger
Pouncival
Jemima
Flitterbug

*sits in a dark corner and cackles evilly, as befits her character*

... Waving my backside around? *blink* With nobody to see it?

No decent attention-seeking villain would do such a thing!

VOTING IS OVER

BALLOTS ARE NOW CLOSED

The time frame allotted for voting is now run out, and the ballots are closed. No further ballots will be accepted, and no edits allowed. Ballots will be checked and the tabulations will begin.

Thank you for all those who participated. This time, I received 21 ballots, and most roles had obvious winners. However, not all parts will have clear winners... I will attempt to be as fair as I can in assigning the winning roles.

Again, thank you for participating...

I was wondering if someone could make me a banner I got Etcetera and I am the understudy for --- Coricopat Jellylorum Sillabub and Tantomile

Thanks!

Peritombry

Typical. i have to come back after the casting's done. Laughing Are you recording songs or is this just a character-claim thing?
Rumblepurr

Casting

Essentially, it would be considered a "Forum Casting". The Forum Casting begins January 1 or July 1, and goes for 2 weeks. During that time, members of the Forum use a ballot on which all the characters are placed, and then members choose which member of the Forum is most like that character. The ones who receive the most votes is awarded that character for about 6 months when the next casting is due... That would be January 1, 2009.

I am not sure of the percentage of our members could actually record songs, much less do them justice. My vocal range in low baritone at best, and not many of the songs in CATS could be sung that low without modulation... The high G required for Old Deuteronomy is about a third higher than I can hit properly...

Rumblepurr

Mungojerrie_rt

Ew. Me trying to sing Tugger's part. :-&

I don't know which would be worse. My rock or my pure singing.
Peritombry

Ah so it's like an award thing. Nice Razz
Quaxo!

Ahhhh! I would love to record some songs! I can do just about all of them. I really like Jemima's parts, even though I'm a guy. Hmmm. I wonder if I can remember all the songs I used to know, because since our school Musical is Willy Wonka, and I've been Cast as Willy, I've mostly been singing songs from that. Cheers Everyone! Very Happy
