Honestly, go into the audition without being like "OMG!!! JUILLIARD AND TISCH!!!" Just look at it like you're going into any other audition...
Just because people get into those programs doesn't mean that they are the best there is...Financials, politics, etc. all play a part. There are a TON of more deserving people that haven't been accepted who have gone on to greater things. In fact, some of the people who are accepted are not all that and a bag of chips...So do with that information what you will!
And honestly, I had a terrible experience with a whacked out voice teacher from Juilliard's staff that didn't do any of her students any favors...(I could elaborate, but I won't...that would be pages! LOL!)
The most important thing to realize is that what may work for one person in certain programs may not work for another...Some are more nurturing and some are more of tearing you down THEN building you back up again...It depends on what YOU personally need.
And other NYC schools (even if you don't get into those two) share a lot of the same staff as Juilliard and NYU...The teachers usually work with more than one institution...SO you are rarely get an "exclusive" education...
And you will always get out of a program what you put into it. YOUR EFFORTS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING! So once you're accepted- DON'T STOP THERE! KEEP ON WORKING!!!!!!
Just don't psych yourself out...if you get in- GREAT!!!!! If not, just know your life isn't over! LOL!
It's what you do with what you learn that is the most important thing!
