Joseph Orchestration

My directors really want to do the show next year. However, our catch - 22 to putting on any show, is that it has to have violins, per request of the evil orchestra director. I was listening to the music, and I'm pretty sure I hear some violins in there, but when I look at the orchestration lists, some performances are using violins, and some aren't... Are there different ones available, or did they write in violins? I really want to do this show... Applause

When I was in the pit orchestra, we used

Piano
Drum Set
Misc Percussion
Keyboard
Flute
Saxophone
Trumpet
French Horn
Guitar

I don't remember any violins.

We used a violin twice in the show. The first time was in the "One more Angel" number. The violin was played in hoedown fashion. The second time was in "Those Canan Days".

When we did the show we used multiple narrators. One of the narrators was also a talented violin player, so we staged this as part of the show. It worked really well.

It is of course worth remembering that there are two very diferent arangements anyway. The old one used in the 70's (and still used today in "bill kenwright's" productions), and the newer paladium version (also used for the video).

The licensed version is the older one.

I had a feeling it would be.
