Jesus the moneychanger!Jesus has become a moneychanger! We had planned on producing JC Superstar in Memphis, TN. Energy and hopes were high, you could feel the excitement. Young voices telling an old story with a new interpretation, with great enthusiasm. We recently learned that the owners of the rights to JCS have now denied our access to the production. Why? Because there's a national tour. The nearest city that will play JCS will be in Mobile Alabama. Almost 400 miles away! Do you think our little two weekend production will draw people from hundreds of miles away?
Greed is a terrible force, especially when it comes disguised in white robes.

That stinks, a lot. I had a similiar experience to that with Annie Get Your Gun. The closest it was playing to us was on Broadway, and we were a suburb of Buffalo, NY, almost in Canada. However we were finally granted the rights, despite all of that.

It's pretty typical for licensing agencies...in this case R&H to suspend the rights to productions currently touring. It's usually a part of the contract between the production company and the licensing agency. This isn't unusual. It is standard procedure.
