I was so happy that she won! I literally yelled out "Yay!" the moment they said her name, hehe. I really hope she goes on to do more movies and make a career, etc. I'm so glad that some of the rejects from AI actually made something of themselves, lol. The former contestants who have been the most successful are, mostly, the losers!

I third doing that. I started swearing when Eddie Murphey didn't get the Oscar for best supporting actor, even though he didn't exactly deserve the win.

^Really? That's ridiculous.
Ridiculous that he walked out, that is... I think the Acadamy certainly preserves the right to ban him from future ceremonies if he walked out for such a silly reason. Maybe if he had been beaten by someone who truly didn't deserve the Oscar, but IMO Alan Arkin did a great job in "Little Miss Sunshine." Don't know who I think most deserved the award, but it's not as if it was a total shock and outrage. Eddie Murphy is lucky that he even got nominated, with some of the crappy movies he's made.
If he were banned from the ceremonies, would that also mean that he could never be nominated again? That would be horrible for him. Or would he just not be allowed to accept his award? Lol.
'Course, this could all just be a crazy rumor.

Oscar, Oscar, Oscar, Oscar, Oscar....I'm glad that Jennifer Hudson won an Oscar for playing Effie in Dreamgirls. I think she deserved it, even if she was nominated in the wrong category.
But, frankly, I think the Academy Awards have become a bit of a joke. This was the first Oscar ceremony I've watched since American Beauty won in 2000. When I used to watch regularly, it was really only to see the performances of the songs that were nominated, which (in the mid-1990s) were just generally super. And I must admit, this year's revisiting really only spawned one highlight for me - the medley from Dreamgirls.
For a ceremony that spends so much money - why can't they get it right? Because they're lazy, I guess, and depend on the celebs they honour to attract the audiences and secure the ratings they need. Why bother to present a show that is good in its own right when you have a whole lot of famous people in the audience to win the ratings game for you?
Anyway, as far as Eddie Murphy is concerned: if he walked out, so what? He has the right to do so if he wishes to do that. I don't think that he was "lucky to even be nominated" (as suggested above by norayouadora). His performance deserved a nomination. Did it deserve a win? I'm not so sure. Alan Arkin did a superb job in Little Miss Sunshine and I don't think Murphy was a sure win in the way that Hudson or Hellen Mirren were.
