Jennifer Hudson's futureAfter she finishes recording her album, do you think she'll be back in the movies. I thought she was awesome in Dreamgirls (and I'm assuming many did also, seeing how she won an Oscar) and I'm just wondering what everyone thinks her future in movies will be.

I'm thinking she'll fade out of the lime light.

I hope she continues to sing and maybe do more movies. She is extremely talented and I'd like to see more of her. I'd love it if she got to create a role in a new musical, so I could play out that CR as much as I do with the Dreamgirls soundtrack.

I really hope she does. Her "I Tell You I'm Not Going" was just so captivating and moving.

I think that she will become more famous, and eventually, stop. I love the way she sings "I love you I do". She has an amazing voice.

I thought that might happen, too, but then she won so many awards for her performance... That might give her more longevity. Of course, being in one successful movie doesn't guarantee that you'll become a big star, but it seems to have given a definite punch to her career--probably not enough to automatically make her an A-list celebrity, but certainly enough to catch the attention of the public. Dreamgirls was very successful and people love the whole "rags-to-riches" aspect of her story, what with being kicked off of AI and now singing on a top-selling soundtrack and winning an Oscar... She's already kicked more ass with her career than most of the past AI champs. There's no way of knowing for sure whether or not she'll really get popular, but I wouldn't write her off yet.

I'm pushing for her as Carrie in the Carousel movie with Hugh Jackman, since a black Carrie is rather standard since the 1994 production did it.

Um... Jennifer Hudson doesn't have the right kind of voice to play Carrie. If that happened, it would be one of the worst miscastings in film history!

Since when has casting well or according to voice type succeeded in films?

I could also see her playing Miss Jones in "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying".
Am I the only one who thought that, at first listen, her version of "And I Am Telling You..." was a bit over the top?

No matter who sings it though, sometimes that song can be a little hard on the ol' eardrums. After all, they're the only ones I've got, and years of DJing and collecting music has taken their toll on my hearing.
Either that or I still have swimmer's ear.

If you look on IMDB, she's already got a movie currently in post production for next year

OMG that would be amazing!
I have a feeling she will be around for a long time, it's just a case of what direction her career will go in - theatre, movies, music?

I think they should make a revival of Dreamgirls on broadway I know she wouldn't but I want her to be in it. I think she will act more and then really take her music seriously and become a full time singer

Jennifer Hudson as Mrs. Muller in Doubt?I heard a rumor that she is being considered to play the mother of the Catholic schol boy in the film version of Patrick Shanley's Doubt. Personally, I don't think she has the chops to do it. Meryll Streep is apparently cast as Sister Aloysius.

I don't think she'll become famous in the pop star sense, like Beyonce. And unless her acting improves, I don't see her lasting long in movies. My guess is that she'll stick to just singing, which she's great at.
