I would just love to meet someone from this forum someday!
This subject stimulated so much discussion, I think we could at least all put our heads together to make this happen. I think we all want *to* make this happen. We can take our time and plan this out right. There is no deadline for it. We could really be on to something here. All Cosplay Cons started with a small Idea like this. Big thanks to Cerevesa for the Name "Jellicon". I think it *sings*, don't y'all?
I'd like to make this thread as a discussion and idea exchange. We've already had a name for our con come out of this. There is nothing we can't accomplish if we all work together, including a fan con.
"Make no small plans. They have neither the scope or imagination to inspire men."

Former Mayor Of Chicago and the planner charged with the Reconstruction of the city after the great fire of 1871.
"Jellicon I" CCDB Member/Cats Fan Con
Makeup/Cosplay-Skits/Audience Participation (a/la Rocky Horror) full costume screening of Cats DVD.....Makeup (fix your face) labs and demos, costuming and wig workshops, Vendors selling/taking commissions (VTWC, Rox, Shadow, Ms. M, Jen, Saffy,) Professional photographer taking posed/staged full costume photos, Saturday night Jellicle Ball dance (costume or no costume) Cash bar (must be 21 to drink), Pizza, Karaoke, and more pizza.
Start on a Friday, End Sunday Morning/Early Afternoon. Call a hotel, get a rate and an exhibition rate...hmmmmmmmmmmmm.....
How about Las Vegas for the site? It is generally the cheapest place to fly to from anywhere in the country. You don't have to be 21 to be in a hotel convention room, and if you're not, there is TONS to do. Also, you can bring friends/parents/significant others along and they will be occupied while we do our Jellicle thing, and we wouldn't look a BIT out of place walking around in full makeup and costume! It's Vegas, baby.
CONVENTION HOTEL RATES START AS LOW AS $39.00 A Night at Circus Circus.
Plus...the Troika Tour Comes through Vegas....We could get a group rate on tickets, we could call Troika and talk to them, tell them we're a fan con and we want to buy out a huge chunk of good seats for a rate, we would love to ask if we could get a workshop/autograph session/makeup demo from some of the current cast members...ask if we could get a backstage or behind the scenes tour....you see where I'm going with this?
This doesn't have to happen this year on such a tight schedule, but just for example of "Cats" going through Vegas:
Cats
July 27, 2006 - July 30, 2006
Aladdin Resort & Casino
3667 Las Vegas Blvd. South
Las Vegas, NV 89109
702-785-5000
*Ticketson sale now. Ticket prices are $37.00 - $92.00.
Please, Discuss. [/quote]
Sound fun?

No not really I would NEVER meet someone off the internet and I live in England, somehow I don't think I'll be forking out for the flight to the glorious sunshine country the USA.
Your thread is a bit confusing to read.

The one and only reason why I cannot be there if you really do organize this, is that I live out of the USA and I currently cannot afford a trip over there. But I'd love to meet you guys from USA (and possibly Canada, of course!). In the last five years I've met many people off the internet (several trips to England, and two to USA in 2002) and I've always enjoyed it. MzGalinda, I wish you all the good luck you need!

As fun as this would probably be (and as much as I want to meet all you loverly people), it just seems like... a lot of work. Now, if it pulls through, depending on the timing of it all, I'd concider making my way out there one of these days.
You've definately thought it all out throughly.
As for meeting people from the internet... I've done it before (one from here, Rahlee (we saw CATS in '04 together) and one from a Harry Potter site I'm on (she goes to school right across the street from my university), and both people were as lovely in real life as they were online. *shrugs* It's all about the trust.

as wonderful as this may sound, I believe the mass of the "serious" Cats fans is to wide spread to make something like that possible...
for many of us it is just to expensive once it is out of our country or as in many cases: our continent.
a convention , as soon as it has more than "sit togheter and chat" is a lot, a lot of work. until I more or less actively participated in furry conventions I never knew what was behind reservation, organisation, events, food and all other managements.
of course this does not make the idea impossible. I am just warning, I am sure it can be done, although, in my case, visiting the US is impossible for the next two years in my case. Unless you by coincidence put it on the random dates I may be visiting FC, AC or DC (also conventions) and in a closer state.
the world's big....

Ooops...!
Ok, then the good luck wish goes to whoever might try to organize such a large meeting.

It seems like this idea pops up from time to time, but never gathers enough support/attention to make it. We're just not quite a big enough fandom to have our own convention.
However, best of luck with this, maybe this one'll work out.

Maybe it could work if the idea was tagged onto a bigger convention. Like a furry convention and we just met there but formed our own subsidary group called the Jellicles.

As incredibly fun as that sounds, there's no way I can do it unless it's a few years from now. No way would my parents fly out there with me, or let me fly by myself all the way to Vegas, especially not to meet a bunch of strangers. Well, they see you as strangers. And the money! But we'll see how long it takes you to organize this... I MIGHT be able to come, but I'd count me out.

I would love to come to something like that. I would have no problem meeting people from the net if it were in an organized, professional setting as you describe. However, it isn't likely that I'd be able to get to Las Vegas since I'm only 17. Ah, well. *sighs* It would be majorly fun, though.
