JeffreyOk I am looking at auditioing the for the show godspell. I was looking at the parts. I was listening to some cast recordings and Have never heard Jeffrey to be a high tenor. In the song "we beseech thee" I never heard anything that would suggest a D5. I think the highest he sang maybe was a G4. Anyway Maybe the recordings I heard dont have the original score, in the song "we beseach thee" is the range that is needed?

He sings it towards the end of "We Beseech Thee". He sings the top part when the whole group is singing. Yet, when I played Jeffery, I didn't go that high.

Well it is a gospel style song and was figuring the song itself was open to interpretation. Its funny the two recordings I have heard Jeffrey sounds like a bari/tenor. One of the recordings is the 2001 cast touring I do not know what the other one is.

The high D is written as optional, if memory serves me correctly from 5 years ago.
There are recordings with it in - London Studio Cast is one.
