Just saw the show in Cincinnatti.

I had never really listened to the music before. I am one of the types of people who tries to stear clear of the "in" shows. Boy, was I missing out.

Being an Equity member myself, and having traveled on the US National Tour of Beauty and the Beast, naturally I am very critical of not only sets and shows, but the cast.

In all of my years and experience around amateur and professional theatre, I have not heard a better female vocalist than Carmen Cusack (Elphaba). Simply amazing. The tone and clarity and her ability to belt without screaming and not be that annoying soprano we all dislike.

As for Katie Rose Clarke (Glinda), she was amazing as well. I told my mother, who encouraged me to go, that if I wasn't 19 years old, I would probably have a crush that kids get when they see a disney-like princess! Maybe I do anyway Wink She was very cute, and very talented and a killer actress.

Also, having been in Beauty and the Beast, the king of visual effects, impressing me when it came to FX is hard to do. Wicked blew me away with Defying Gravity. I was very, very impressed with the quality.

Over all I give this show, especially the cast a 10/10. Money VERY well spent.
music is my life!!!

Carmen Cusack is just amazing - a couple of years back she was in a show here in London, "Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens". We heard rumours of her going into Wicked - and I gotta say, selfishly I'm sad she didn't join the London production! Still, you lucky Americans seeing her on tour...
