January 2006 Forum Casting Discussion Thread

Forum casting's officially started. Feel free to post your cast list in the casting thread, and any other comments, questions, or concerns you may have here. =) If you don't want to be included in the casting, this is the place to post. If you're not sure that posters know enough about you to cast you, you're welcome to post a description or the name of a character you're most like.

Just to start it off, as I'm in the mood.... I've been Rumpelteazer the past 4 castings (I think....? Maybe 3...unsure). I usually wait to see what characters I'm cast as and then I 'fight' for it. But it's usually Rumpel, so it seems. So, this time, we shall see. >.>

The casting period lasts two weeks. Please make note of the changes and additions to the rules. Now your cast lists must include at least 30 members (out of 37 available spots) to be included. This hasn't been much of a problem in the past at all, and is merely a safeguard against skimpy casters. Also, we ask that you please try to be inclusive of active members in your cast list, and not to use banned members or members who've been gone for a long time unless you really feel that no one else fits the role.

Thanks, and enjoy. =)
Nemi

MAN Roxanne! You are ontop of things!

Best of luck to everyone in the casting, especially our newbies!

And, you know, incase anyone cares to know... I've been Electra since the start, but I'm not opposed to anything else. Personallity wise I'd say I'm much like Electra, but rather like Demeter and Tantomile (whom I've been cast as an understudy for more than once)...and many others aswell. But, I'm often cast as many differnet characters...

I am... lets see... mature, intelligent, a bit silly, playful, artistic, a bit pompous at times, friendly, sensible, helpful, understanding, open-minded, tomboy-ish, and protective. I'm not very outgoing or couragous, but I'm funloving and I tend to go along with what my friends do (unless it's increadibly stupid)...

Yup, that's me ^^.
MrsJemimaMistoffelees

Ever since the forum casting started (back in 2002 or 2003), I have been cast as Jemima…and would love for it to stay that way ^_^ Although, I wouldn’t mind being cast as Sillabub either.

I took a couple of personality tests, so some of you can get to know me a little better…

“You're complex, thoughtful and never content to skate on the surface. Chances are you veer towards being so analytical and introspective that even positive qualities can seem like faults. The truth is that you have a very perceptive, gentle spirit.”

I am a Scorpio, so here are my characteristics:

Primary Characteristics: Dependable, Intense
Positive Personality Traits: Determined and forceful; Emotional and intuitive; Exciting and magnetic; Powerful and passionate
Dangers: Can be jealous and resentful; May be secretive and obstinate; Risk of being compulsive and obsessive

I was born in the year of the Ox, so here are my personality traits:

"Characteristics of the Ox personality profile include straightforwardness, consistency, kindness and a strong work ethic. They do not tolerate any sort of criticism, and can be very stubborn when they believe they are in the right.

The Ox is very capable and hardworking, but the flip side of this particular coin is a tendency to be moody, gloomy, conformist and quite often, not to put too fine a point on it, dull. But in their better moments, they can be very gentle, loving and supportive to those who they regard as integral to their well-being."

Now as for what I think of myself...I think I am very friendly, accepting, shy, playful, mature, sarcastic, moody, comedic, sensitive, and emotional. I am not a crowd follower, and I handle peer pressure very well.

And here are a couple pictures of me as Jemima:

Veel Liefs,
Jemima Very Happy
QuaxoCoricopat

I'm pretty new here (although I've lurked for over a month, bwahahaa...), so I figured I'd better write this up...

Well, what do you want to know? I'm a Scorpio, take as you will. I'm a Theatre and Dance Major, with hopes of eventually moving to NYC, making it big, as well as getting cast in CATS (much to my professors' utter horror *evil laugh*). I'd die of joy if I were cast in a theatrical production as Rumpelteazer, although with my moderate dance ability I'm more likely to get cast as Jellylorum (which is wicked cool too...).

When you first meet me you'd think I was very bashful, quiet, cold, perhaps a bit too intense at times, and maybe a little teensy bit of a snob (I've never been told so, but then when does anyone tell you?). Those who get past my shell find something else entirely. I'm definitely a tomboy, willing to rough and tumble with the boys, always getting into mischief and cracking jokes. I'm not one to cross as I do strike back, although in more mischievous ways... like stealing batteries out of the phones of roomates who insist on fighting with boyfriends until four in the morning. Oddly enough I'm often the one that people come to for advice on relationships... even though I've never been in one.

I am also a human sound machine, purveyor in odd noises and animal sounds since 1984...

Ta DA! Now back to your regularly scheduled life...
Claire

Hey!

Ok, well I've been here for little over a year, but I don't often post. I have been cast twice (once as a swing, and once as Victoria understudy.) But I'd be happy cast as anything.

A lil bit about me- I'm a libra, and am still at school (unfortunately) and I'd love to eventually go onstage, in any production, as I'm an all rounder. My friends say that I'm clever, very ditzy, loves playing pranks, kind, sensitive, and easygoing.

I see myself as - laidback, ditzy (I do have to agree with my friends on this one, much as I hate to admit it.) caring, quite funny, willing to have a go, and sometimes nervous.

Xx Claire

Hi all! Hope 2006 has got off to a great start already!

well, i havent been included in the castings before and id really like to be considered! shall i ramble on about myself for a bit? okay....

im a 24 year old female pisces, 5'6'', fairly curvacious and muscly, i was born the year of the dog, despite owning three cats, lol!
i am obsessed with any music as a way of expression, im a mother hen- always the first with the tissues and band aids and cup of tea if someone i know is hurt or upset, and been known to jump in my car in my nightdress to rescue friends at 3 in the morning as they dont know London very well and cant get home (awww!)
im also a dance teacher and musical theatre actress.(i have a very strong belt and a high soprano range, i am also a strong dancer, blowing my trumpet a bit i know but all jellicles are proud!)
my fave colour is purple, i am also very spiritual, everything from spells to crystals and tarot, yoga and meditiation.i consider myself more artistic than academic! i also enjoy ancient arts such as swordfighting and i am the first to admit i like learning new skills.
i do not suffer fools gladly, im a people watcher too!
i am happy on my own or as part of a group, i have a handful of very close friends and a lot of not so close friends if that makes sense?

anyone like to consider me for a place in the tribe?

look forward to reading everyones entries and making suggestions for you all!

good luck

Alonza0

Hey all! Hehe so excited!!! *Bounces up and down* Can't wait! Just got a question: As my name implys, I am obviously a girl, but could I be casted as a boy character? Just wondering. As for myself:

I don't want to make anybody mad at me, but the character everyone tells me I'm most like is Jemima. But that doesn't mean I have to be her, whoever is fine. My choice would probably be a kitten or Exotica.

I'm a Pisces but I don't exactly match perfectly to that title so here's my self-analysis: Shy, guarded, tad bit unsure, can be extremely hyper, cautious to a point, young compared to most people on here, caring, will be the first to let a friend cry on my shoulder and will gladly give my advice and opinion, stubborn to the point of being a little bit obnoxious or foolish (oops!), like to tell everyone my opinion even if it goes against what they think, giggly, intelligent, and don't really know when to stop, as you can plainly see

My favorite color's purple followed closely by black then blue. I'm very short for my age (barely 5'0''!) but curvacious. I like singing over dancing and am better at the former, though I can do both pretty well.

Hope I helped without boring you all to tears!
SadieCass

Hard to believe this has started already. I believe I'll participate this year.

Swan and I usually both go for Cassandra, and that is, as always, my first choice. I won't list my reasons why I should be her, both Swan and I fit the profile well. I've also been cast as Tantomile before, which I find fitting...and Victoria once because of my flexibility...but I'm not flashing my picture again...those who know me well enough know...
Belle

Plenty of girls get cast in male roles, and vice versa - gender's not nearly as important as fitting the character!

Ok, something about me - well, I'm coming up for 25 and only in my 1st year at university. I'm studying Theatrical Costume Construction at a drama school - compared to most of the students there, I'm very practical, even mercenary - all very well creating site-specific performance art, but is it gonna pay your rent? I don't think so! I'm more interested in making things than seeing the freudian significance in a bit of text. I'm the one who tends to organise what my friends and I are doing, where we're going to meet, how we're all getting there, once someone's suggested what they want to do.

(so if anyone in London wants to see Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens on thursday, let me know!)

I adore bright and shiny things, fun shows, glittery costumes, I don't tend to worry about the meaning of life and "Oh noes we're all gonna DIE!!!". Having fun is more important. but I do get claustrophobic with too many crowds of people, and I get impatient with stupidity, like people getting off an escalator and STOPPING at the end! gah! Razz

Previous castings have put me as Griddlebone, Growltiger! and understudying the elder queens. Of all the cats, I do identify most with Jennyanydots and/or Griddlebone. I'm not as patient as Jellylorum is, most of the time. Sometimes I wish I was a bubbly kitten, they seem to have so much fun! And when I watch beautiful dancers, I get a Grizabella complex - I danced until a nasty injury stopped it being possible, but I do wish I could... Still, I MAKE the dance costumes!
Swan

I guess SadieCass said it all... and I am glad this time she is back to the "competition"! Very Happy
I take off my collar and put it here, to be picked up by whoever (she or me or anyone else) will get the role...
And if you need to know how much Cassandra-ish I am, you just have to read my reply in the thread about Cats and Phantom. Cool

Swan - Italian Jellicle

P.S. for Alonza: yes, you can be cast in a male-role. Smile
Drumdraper

I've been here for a little over a year and I didn't get a chance to make the last casting call so...

My name is Drumdraper and people tend to see me as a child stuck in an adult's body. I am very energetic and a little spacey, but when the time calls for it I can be down to Earth. I tend to take charge of my current situations and people let me lead if I know what I am doing. When there appears to be a better able-bodied person I take a second in command seat, but I try to make sure everyone's voice is heard. I enjoy puppeteering in my spare time and I upstage anyone I can when I'm in puppet mode. My friends complain they hardly see me out of grease paint and lycra anymore. I love to make people laugh and though I'm a pessimist I am also an optimist. I love to learn and study small details in things (I can watch water drip for an hour before I get bored and no I'm not on LSD). Also I like yarn balls. Plus I write in my spare time, but I'm a horrible speller.

(Hint: Munku!)
Stargazer

Rox, you are sooo ontop of things.

Lets see...

I've been cast as Victoria for about 3 or 4 times now... I'm not exactly sure for sometimes I completly zone out lol.. My personality is:

Hyper at times and fun going but I know when to settle down and when to act up. I go into my shy modes now andthen and when I'm in a big crowd of people I don't know I'm really quiet and sometimes in crowds of people I know I tend to be the one to listen and not speak. I get along with almost anyone and I give everyone a chance Smile Thats about it...

Ive been here since.. 2002... so a long time.. ^_^;; when Iwas first here I usually got votes for tantomile and electra and now since we've had it twice a year I get a wide variety but, as i said earlier, mostly Victoria Smile

MsJellicle and I had reconnoitered shortly before. Brouhaha. We're good. ^_^ For those who don't know, MsJellicle's done this since basically ever (hasn't she? I think....) and I've co-run it the past three rounds (this is my forth). It's good fun, but a looooad of work. o.o

I'm kind of excited, I like seeing who casts people as what. ^_^ I've got to get started on my list, though... Last round, I was all done and ready to go even before I posted the rules. This time, I haven't even started. O.o

For those who haven't seen me cast, I always put a description of the 'why's behind the casting. 'Tis fun, and tends to make people feel good. Something I like to do, and something that people like to see. ^_^ Makes it just that much better.

So yes...Let's see. I've been Rumpelteazer the past three rounds, and Quaxo the round before those. Previous to that, I was either lurking or not here yet. But this shouldn't matter (until the final few lists...garrr.... >.>). I like seeing primarily who people view me as, not just slotting me as Rumpel 'cause you don't know me and you think I'm getting pushy and you wish I'd shut up. XP But then, if you really don't know where to put me, but you know you want to.... Cool

Last time... Lessee, I understudied Bombalurina, Munkustrap, and Victoria, no? I don't remember. lol I'm nearly positive that was it, though....

I'm just rambling to ramble. I don't really need to say any of this. Laughing Maybe I'm hoping you'll get to know me (if you don't) without me actually telling you 'this is who I am' XP

Aaaaanyway.... Someone tell me to shut up. Embarassed Enjoy yerselves. XP
Moongewl

I'm an Aquarius(but on the cusp of Aquarius/Pisces) and a Dragon, so, blah.
Aquarians--
Primary Characteristics: Generous, Tolerant
Positive Personality Traits: Friendly, Independent and intellectual, Loyal and honest, Original and inventive
Dangers: Can be intractable and contrary, Can be unemotional/cold and detached, Sometimes perverse and/or unpredictable

Dragons--
"The Dragon person is self confident and impulsive and consequently does not always listen to the advice of others. He is also a perfectionist and he sets high standards for himself. Although strong and decisive the Dragon is not manipulative or sly. He refuses to deceive or compromise and fails to spot subversive intent. He enjoys being in command and like an emperor holding court he eliminates obstacles until success is his."

Personally, I don't see myself as imperious or overly generous, but I am fairly tolerant(I have some problems with people I see as narrowminded, but that usually only pops up when talking politics or religion, which aren't exactly my favorite topics anyway), and I am definitely impulsive, original, and independent. I enjoy long walks on the beach and dinner by candlelight(well, not really, I just had to put that in there because this feels like a personal ad). Philosophy is something I like to talk about, along with symbolism(I lurve symbolism) and books. I have an attitude problem, sort of, because I don't know when to shut up, and I tend to make smart-alecky/sarcastic remarks--bad combination, by the way. Politically, I'm very much a liberal in almost all respects, and physically, I'm short and skinny except for my ghetto booty, with fair skin and multicolored(red, black, ammonia-blonde, and my natural brown) hair. Overall, I'm pretty much a random kind of person, sometimes I'm spazzy, sometimes I'm strange, sometimes I'm just plain fonkay.
pkitty663

well I'm a bit shy when it comes to meeting new people yet I get hyper and the most random times. I say dumb things but for some reason it cheers people up. I like shiny stuff...yes I do..I'm 17. I like doing artsy stuff...but I probably couldn't creat a costume to save my life only because I've never tried it. But I will get up off my arse and do it one day. I can't stand to see someone make a mess because I go clean freak on them...so yeah ^_^; I hate and I mean I HATE people who are fake. Fake as in pretending to be your friend and talking behind your back. I'd like to stab one of them repeatedly with a plastic fork screaming "DIE DIE DIE"....but I'm nice and I can't fight so I hold back. I can be mature when I have to be. Other times I'm playful with people I'm comfortable around with. I can also, strangely enough, be motherly towards my friends like:

"STOP SLOUCHING MR! THAT'S BAD FOR YOUR BACK"

"Don't do that! Here, use my napkin."

"You pick that up right now, or else..what did the earth ever do to you?"

"Apologize...or no cookie"

lol....yes well...I can't help it. I have urges to be motherly sometimes. I look after them and they look after me. Sometimes I change moods in a second too. I can be bored one second and the other I'm hyper. I listen when someone needs an ear. I love spotlight...once I'm on there and I'm confident, then there's no stopping me. I love to dance. I'm a n00b at it but I love it. I love doing tap because it's not only a workout it's a bunch of fun. I wish my voice was trained up to where I could get a lead in some performances but..sadly it isn't...not to worry I still lay confident that I'll have my voice trained in time to try and live my dream as a performer. I love to crochet! Crocheting is mah thang. I can only make fuzzy scarfs though but I will learn more stuff. Pixie Sticks are my life...not really but still PIXIE STICKS. People may see me as a kissass but I'm not. So I support people in things they do. I'm just that type of person. And thats my story

THE END

NO WAIT! I've proven myself to be scary when I'm hyper...this is a VERY short conversation I had, more like onesided too lol!, with the actor who was signing my pamplet thingy...so sue me I was happy okay....ahem

Me:...So you were Mistoffolees eh?

Him:...um..yeah *signing papers*

Me: *in hyper mode* Oh my god okay you were so awesome! When you were dancinng and stuff doing your magic tricks, I was the one who was clapping and screaming whoo!

Him: *signs my pamplet all nervously*ahaha...well...thanks. I gotta go though.

Me: GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEXT PERFORMANCE (I didn't scream this but it was all excitedly)

My best friend: LIZ....stop...

Me:*bouncy*okokokok...ooooo...he has a nice ass...

*we both giggle*

NOW it's the end....yes I realize I made an ass of myself and I regret scaring the poor man...but he was Misto...and I'm a big Misto fangirl.

Oh, wow! I can't believe that the new forum cast is time to be made! This is always soooooo exciting, I can never wait for it!

Okay. Last time, as you can all see from my banner, I was cast as Etcetera,, which I must say, fits me beautifully. I can't think of anotehr cat taht currently fits me better! Anyway, I am fifteen years old, and have been a forum member since April. However, I am sooooo happy and enthused to discuss theatre that I post away like a bandit! I am most liek Etcetera because I am very very bubbly and giddy practically all the time. I am seldom serious, and I co e across as annoying at times, but I never, ever mean any harm. I get along pretty well with everyone here, and I don'yt think anyone dislikes me. I sure didn't give them a reason to! I am very lively and upbeat, and get a little carried away in my fan-dom at times. I am the biggest fankid this side of um... the monitor? I dunno...but anyway, I get really excited and squealy when things/ people I like, admire, or whatever are mentioned.
I am a young member who is very very flirtatious (offline, naturally!) and am very loyak to my friends and make a good friend. I always try to be happy and cool to everyone, but sometimes I can't help but me a bit catty (no pun intended!)...and I like to make sure people are appreciated and not hurt in any way on these forums. These traits also lend me toward Demeter, Bombalurina, and Jemima, but really I am too young for the first two and too bubbly for the third. In enjoy life and friends and fun,and make the most of my youth while it lasts.

So pleeeeeeeease cast me in some good roles, guys! Soooo excited!
~Bal~

Ah, I remember the good old days when i was Pouncival three or four times in a row...

I miss those days...

*campaigns*

I'll post my list soon!

The forum layour ees giving me a headache.
MsJellicle

I've been mostly cast as Jellylorum. Back when we had these before we started doing them bi-yearly, I was once cast as Demeter and Sillabub. I've understudied Demter, Sillabub, Munkustrap, and Jennyanydots. Interestingly enough, I'm most like all three of them combined. I can be quite jumpy like Demeter, silly, playful, and quiet like Sillabub, and I can be a listener and look after others like Jellylorum.
I don't see myself as Jennyanydots. I'm just not erm...fastidious enough for her. Wink

*asterix*

Just running some tallies here, and it appears that Exotica is missing from the main list. She's been included in at least one cast list so far, though.

Also, as a general request, to make it easier for those of us who may volunteer to do tallies, if anyone's going to go back and change their list after posting it, would you mind putting in bold (or otherwise clearly indicating) the specific changes? Please and thanks Smile

Bah...did I really forget to save her into the list and the rules I've got? *rubs forehead* Shall be fixed now. This was unintentional.

So, yes. Exotical is being added to the casting list! Also, as asterix said, please put any cast list changes in bold for the ease of those tallying. Thanks, and sorry I forgot Exo. XP
Jemima57

Wow, already casting time again... time runs fast Rolling Eyes

So, last time I was casted as Sillabub, which made me very happy for it was my first casting, having only been a swing in the past casts. I usually get a lot of different votes ! I've been on this board since it opened in 2002, and lurking on the old one. I'm 24.

As for my personnality, I'm usually quiet, quit mature (people often think I'm older than I really am), but enojy having fun and making people laugh. I'm a good listener, take care of people I love.

I think I am a mix-up of Tantomile and Cassandra (adult, quiet and mysterious), Demeter (adult, a bit parano, stressful), Sillabub (silly sometimes) and Jemima (wise).

Posting my list soon !
enkeli-kitten

Yay this is so exciting!!!!!!!!! Very Happy I'm pretty new so I've never ever been cast (and i think this is a great idea btw!) !!! I'd love to get something even just a swing. Although I'm new I've been as active as I can with a half hour allocated time slot a day!! Ok...a little bit about me incase anyone wants to!

I'm happy-go-lucky and optomistic, I don't really get depressed. I'm friendly and love to be with people. I guess you'd describe me as "bubbly" really, but I'm slightly wierd and a sense of humor that gets me giggling at the strangest things! I also have a really determined streak and stand up for what I think is right. My favourite cats are Tumblebrutus and Jemima, Electra and Rumpelteazer. Very Happy
Nemi

I'll just post again how important I think it is for oldbies to have a definate role. Or, atleast, to have them on your list. I know I take it rather personally when I don't see my name on someone's list, since I've been here for 4 years now... I know that many of the others feel the same. It's been stated in another forum.

It's also important that you put thought into it. If you really think Roxanne would be the most excellent Grizabella, that's fine... but it's best not to just plunk her down anywhere without thought.

I'd say read what everyone has to say about theirselves on this forum, think about how they act to other forum members, and what sort of image they have. Think "Wow, that Moongewl really reminds me of Macavity, you know? She's just so snarky!" [insert endless love for Gewl here]

It's often easiest to cast people you know first... I mean, you know them, either online or off, and you know how they act.

Also, the most curteous thing is to, if someone has casted you already, cast them also... that is, unless you've already made your list and don't have anymore room. If you're one of the latter people to cast, don't leave out people just because they didn't cast you... sometimes lists are just so full that it's hard... this is common with newbies, I've noticed.

Sooooooo yea! Happy casting AND happy new year!
Roxanne

Ditto everything that Nemi's said. I can't really say anything better, and if I start, it'll be endless dribble, so go reread her post. Laughing
Lady Jemima

What a great thread this is! It's so helpful to have everyone's descriptions! I'm working on making my list now! Very Happy I want to say thank you to everyone who has named me on their list; it's so exciting (and flattering!) to see your name down by a character!

And now....a bit about myself!

I'm 18, female, and have enjoyed CATS for many years. I really got into the musical about six months ago; I think I finally reached the age where I could really understand the story, the depth of the characters and their relationships, and appreciate the choreography and costumes.

I don't have a favorite character per say, but I've noticed I do like the Queens better than the Toms. Wink I enjoy Jemima's/Sillabub's character because I identify with her; she's very young, sweet, understanding, and somewhat naive, yet at the same time is wise beyond her years--how I would describe myself. I love Rumple's cheekiness; I'd love to have that sort of attitude someday! I definetly identify with Demeter's sensitivity and depth, but I'm about as far away from Bombalurina as they come! Very Happy

Apart from CATS, I enjoy art (my dream is to write and illustrate children's books), reading, and playing board games with my family. I am extremely neat and organized. My hobbies are collecting vintage My Little Pony toys and CATS costuming. I love animals and second to writing/illustrating books, consider working in animal rescue a dream job. I have two kitties who are the light of my life. Very Happy

I hope I haven't left anything out; if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask! Wink

Placement

Although Astrology (both Western and Eastern) is nice, the Natal chart only fixes the inate personality and other traits. The "stars" mutate (or move) as you age... For example, I was born just inside the influence of Aries but truly on the cusp with Pisces (0d48m). SInce then, I have aged 55 years, which would place my Sun (self) in Taurus near the cusp with Gemini (Sun moves about one degree per year...). And then, there are the houses in the chart... ad nauseum...

When I first joined MdN, I was in the middle of three series of Fanfiction: The Jellicle Chronicles, The Ancients and The Jellicle Triad. Since I was a storyteller at that time, and one of the Forum's older members (I do not think I am the oldest...), GUS was the favored choice of most voters. Because of that, I have been GUS since the start of the casting...

However, the last two castings have seen more votes for OLD DEUTERONOMY with a scattering of SKIMBLESHANKS and even MUNKUSTRAP... Last Casting, Old D's votes almost made the cut, and I became his understudy...

Although I feel more like GUS because of my background (MA in Theatre, 1979, SDSU), my present attempt at a new profession (author), and finally... I'm getting up there... all traits of the old Theatre Cat... I am not sure I have Leadership capabilities, and not everyone likes to see Rumble appear in a thread...

It will be interesting to see where this one goes...
Regards,
Rumblepurr

Nemi, Roxanne, doesn't that kind of fight against the whole idea? "Cast whever you feel fit, as long as her, her, her, me and him are in there? Isn't it little selfish?

Isn't it even slightly against the rules..?

And I don't want to start a fight. Maybe just a little debate Razz. So, keep the peas out of your nose, this is still only a game isn't it? Smile

Mmmm...maybe I shall go ahead and speak for myself, then. XP

I wouldn't be honestly offended if someone didn't cast me. It doesn't matter to me that much, to waste offendedness on such a thing. But even if I wouldn't be seriously offended, I feel it's seen as a) I'm an active poster b) I've been here for a heckuva long time c) people should know me well enough to be able to cast me. This is all it amounts to.

If older members who haven't posted in a couple of months are still cast and newer members who contribute a lot are left out, it's certainly unfair. It's just mildly ennervating when you've 'earned your place on the forum' or whatever, you constantly contribute, and you're seasoned, but people don't seem to feel the need to cast you. I think the problem is, people look at old casts and say "Gawd, s/he only posted like four times!" or "Gawd, s/he hadn't posted in years when this castlist was made!" So people who are here a lot, and post regularly, sometimes get left out, and people who just pop up once, post about twenty times in a week, and disappear, or people who were here once a long time ago but not in the recent past get cast.

Point of Order

The intent of the "Forum Casting Call" is entertainment... However, the outcome can be very much like a real casting call on a stage. If we participate in this, each of us is a "Fantasy Director" looking for the "Ultimate Cast." We decide on who we cut and who we retain because there are only so many parts. Here, our "audition" is based on how well someone knows you and sees you in a certain part.

The frequency of a member's posting should not be a factor in our choices. Some of the "older" members are well known by the Forum because of what they have posted BEFORE... A member who is now considered a "lurker" may have posted every single day, months or even years past. And then there is the member who posts infrequently, but always has something noteworthy to say or divulge when they do... People who have been established are known better than those who have just begun establishing their Forum presence.

Each of us considers certain people for certain parts for certain reasons... pure & simple... Let us merely enjoy the event...

In response to what was brought up by Mixu...

I'm going to say offended is too strong a word... but I'm going to use it because my very dead-feeling brain can't think of a better one... perhaps slightly upset/hurt... but offended is shorter.

I'm not saying I'd be offended if I didn't get Electra. I'm saying I'd be offended to see numerous lists without my name on it. Why? Because of how much time I've put into this forum, this community, and these friends. I'm sure that nearly every one of us gets upset if they've been on the forum for any long stretch of time and have any great number of posts and doesn't see his or her name as any character at all.

I don't think I was contridicting the rules at all... my example using Gewl as Macavity supported the rules 100%. Put people where you want because of how you feel.

I'm just saying that you might want to look at some of the most obvious names when you're going about it. Why cast someone who's made 10 posts total over someone who's made 3000? If that 3000 post person is still alive and kicking and posting around the forum now?

Makes more sense, non?

And sorry if that makes me seem... well haughty. I did mention I was a little pompous sometimes... I have a day about once a week were I just... I don't like other people... and the fact I haven't been asleep since noon yesterday (with it being 9PM now) doesn't help it much...

Bleh.

I know the feeling. Way back in...like, '04, maybe? Earlier? Can't remember. Anyway, early in this whole "Casting" thing, I would consistently get understudy/swing. (I got bisnatchy, and suddenly people began casting me a lot more often. Moral of the story: bisnatchy people get cast more often.) But I digress. It was always sort of disheartening to go through three or four pages on the Casting thread and not have my name on any of the lists at all, especially since I was a consistent, established poster. But I didn't say anything, because after all I wasn't exactly a "veteran" member. Now I consider myself an older member of the forum(not in terms of age, but in terms of time on the forum), and hrmm, there's my name a lot more often. I've earned it. But there ARE people who show up like a month before the Casting, and expect to be major characters like Demeter or Mistoffelees. And that's what the whole "If you're going to get offended" deal was about. I doubt anyone's actually going to do that, but it's more of a subtle way of saying "Don't b---- because you're not the character you want, or not cast as much as you want." Of course, now all the subtlety's gone, but oh well.

*nods* It is. For those that have been here for YEARS, before it was even a php board that it is today...to not see your name on a list, especially by those that you've even had discussions with and known a while, it becomes disenheartening. However, I myself have trouble remembering everyone I want to when these things go up...that's why I usually wait until later to make my list...so that I can see those 'established' members posted before me and make sure I've hit those that I've missed. Of course, being the occasional mostly-lurker that I've become for the most part...it's halfway expected in my case. Hence, why I posted in this thread just saying I was participating. If you don't post here and remind people you exist, you're easier to forget Smile

It's kinda neat seeing my name already on a few cast lists (and with such variety!). I've been here since the very beginning, but I'm usually a lurker until I feel that I have something important to contribute. But, because it is just a game, I don't get offended if I'm not included on someone's list. There are, after all, many more members than there are "roles" available. Smile

Hmmm, my personality... Overall, I would say I'm quiet but friendly. I wouldn't call myself a social butterfly. I would much rather have fun with a few close friends than go out to a party or a bar surrounded by a bunch of strangers. I have a tendency to occasionally worry; kind of a mixture of anxiety/paranoia/OCD. This spills over into a concern for other people's feelings. I always have to make sure that everything's okay with them; that they're not mad or upset. I can be outgoing when needed, especially if I'm working or volunteering in a customer service-type situation. I enjoy informing others about subjects of which I'm knowledgable, like CATS or giving a campus tour. On the upside, I'm friendly, caring, giving, and affectionate.

I enjoy theatre (of course), watching movies, and reading non-fiction books. I love animals (dogs and cats, especially), and almost pursued a career in veterinary medicine. I have my bachelor's degree in Animal Science, but I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. Wink I have a wide range of career interests: microbiology, university admissions counselor, or theatrical administration. Who knows where I'll end up?

Wow, this really is like a personal ad. Laughing

IMO it's not only a matter of memory but of interest... I'd personally prefer a newbie or a half-lurker who contributes with one post in two months and says someting really interesting, rather than an old member whose posts I don't find very interesting (and I am not thinking of anyone here, it's just an example). Interesting posts get my attention and make me gladly put their authors in the cast list, no matter how long they've been here or how often they post. Wink

No, you are just pure evil. hahahahhaha *MUUUUUAH!*

-back to the topic that interest ME-

If you personally know me casting me is probably the easiest thing in the world. I am out going without being over the top. Slightly dramatic whenever I want to be. I claim every hot guy I see has my pretend boyfriend (that list is so long) I flit about never knowing what Im doing day to day. I am a strong dancer yet the most accident prone person you will ever meet in your life, (like the time I fell off the roof, or slipped on cottage cheese or ran into a door or when a penny it me in the head, not to mention a pinecone hit me on the head the other day) breaking bones is my specialty. Dancing is my life, I live for it and theres nothing greater then sweating it away in a studio (Plus 2 of my teachers are very very attractive) I love scary movies and freaking myself out and yet I am a complete PANSY. Flirting is my favorite thing of all, going out with friends and getting into trouble. Although when I see a friend in need I turn into a protector and a complete mamma hen. I love the dark, hiding in my cave of a bedroom sleeping the day away with my little dog Coco, she is my life. (Smudge, I thought she was dead this morning. You almost got a frantic phone call, but she was just sleeping) I love learning new things and using my artistic talents to express myself anyway I can. I am a little lost in this world and that doesnt bother me. Although I know exactly who I am and I am confident enough to know that I am headed towards great things. I have a knack of getting myself in bad (male related) situations. I shouldnt be allowed to pick the guys I date (Sadie, you keep your mouth shut.) I can be a hardcore B-Witch whenever I want and snap from sweet and caring to back talking and snippy (only to customers that call at work though hahaha.) I have 2 sisters and the middle one and I are at eachothers throats constently, yet 3 minutes later we will act like nothing happened. I am the total black sheep in my family. I am vocal and have no problem confessing how I feel to anyone. I am very open and I keep few secrets (mainly which are not mine). I have no regrets, things happen for a reason and I take them as learning experiences, and judging by this post I really like talking about myself. I am in noooo way a narcist nor am I egotistical, but I am proud of my talents and the accompishments I have made in the last 2 years. I also tend to lurk here everyday and really only post when I have something to say.

All in all I see myself as Bombalurina with hints of Demeter, but I have many kitten-ish qualities too, like the many squeeky sounds I make and the way I bounce for no reason on my way home from work. When I laugh I have a tendancy to make water fly out everywhere (providing I am drinking water at the time) Yeah, so...Thats that.

cast as you see fit Very Happy

PS Coco is snoring...its cute.

My answer would be

Swan wrote:

something like this. Posts that make you think/laugh/cry/angry are always the ones that stick to mind. So the person who posted it usually sticks to mind. And it's much easier to cast those who you remember, right? Smile.

Nemi wrote:

Doesn't this mean you're a little offended? Smile That's what I meant by saying it brakes the rules a little Smile.

And those friends will cast you. But how many of the casters are actually your friends? I can't say I'm friends with anyone here. Maybe it's just because we define "friend" differently.

It's a straight translation from Finnish saying. Apparently not used in other languages Razz.

And I guess that's all. Time to get some food.
Nemi

I said I am a littel offended, but offended is too strong a word. Honestly, who doesn't feel bad? I know all these oldbies do.

And I'm going to steal Gewl's word of 'disheartened'... that one seems like it more accurately describes how I feel.

You're MORE THAN WELCOME to be offended or disheartened if you want, as long as you don't COMPLAIN about it all over the forum. That's what the rule means and is there for.

Notice that I have some of the newest newbies on my list as well as the active Oldbies (and Max...).

Don't judge me... I'll just holla back Cool.
Spanish_Rumple

Sad well... hello there Nemi... I'm not in your list...and I think we've been talking for some time. I guess you have forgotten about it, but it's not going to be something that'll "prevent me from sleeping" (ok...that was a Spanish expression directly translated into English...lol!!)

It's my very first time here in this cast, and I thank those who have already casted me for a character! For the rest I'm gonna describe myself a bit.

Objective facts: girl, 23, quite short and skinny (I wish I has some curves though...hehehe), green eyes and some have said that my hair is "strawberry-red" (I've never herd that before... only in the US!) its like a kind of dark blonde going to brown with some red if you look through it on a sunny day you can see the reddish thing (that is because when I was little I was a bit redhaired) sooooo..... not really the Spanish kind huh!!? I wish I was Irish.

As a Gemini, I've got a very versatile personality, I can change my mind every now and then.

I've got a moody personality some days I can be really bubbly and happy but I sometimes get stuck on obsessive thoughts that can put me down easily.

People that know me describe me as a happy girl but quite childish at times. I love moving a lot, jumping and running, going to amusement parks...etc because it's my way to get rid of those obsessive thoughts and the bad energy that they create on me. I am a very nervous girl that's for sure (I bite my nails)

I have just started dance (some of you already know because I've mentioned it before, my teacher is Hugo Riveros) and it's my third year on Fencing.
enkeli-kitten

I just want to say I'm sorry to all those of you who are steady, interesting posters who've been here since the year dot and didn't get put on my cast list. Being reasonably newbie, I don't know who has alot of history here. But the plus side is, some people may get interesting votes they hadn't thought of before! Smile Please don't take anything personally!! ^_^
Alonza0

May I just point out that some of us (i.e. Enkeli-kitten, Spanish_Rumple and myself, but there are more) have been here for a short time but have been posting all over the place to get ourselves noticed and to show you oldbies our personalities. I just wanted to remind you not to forget us (not saying that you have been!) because we really are trying. I am under no circumstances saying that you should list newbies instead of oldbies, I am simply reminding you all what it's like to be a newbie. I was (for once) not trying to start an arguement, this is only a reminder.

Next item of buisness: I notice that on some people's buttony thingers in their signature it says they are understudies (i.e. Mixu's says Alonzo u/s Macavity). What does that mean?
Roxanne

I generally make a point of casting newbies, most especially those who do get themselves noticed. =) I kind of wanted to give wonderjoe a vote, 'cause he seems cool, but there were other 'newbies' who post more frequently and share in the community, so I gave them priority. *nods*

Understudy is basically like 'runner up.' You can get understudy even if you don't get a main role. So, for the sake of an example, say I get 17 votes for Rumpelteazer and score the main role (good example, huh? Wink ). If Soloque happens to get 9 votes and she's the next highest for Rumpelteazer, she gets to be listed as an understudy. If there are one or two high scores under that, they'll be listed as well. Usually if there's a large tie, we (MsJ and I) try to break it up and not take so many, so it remains a challenge to get. Usually there are 1-3 understudies. Smile
MsJellicle

I usually try to cast both oldbies and newbies. But I usually cast the oldbies first because I know them better. For example, if a newbie seems to fit Tugger's personality, I may not cast, him/her as Tugger because I feel that Creol fits Tugger's personality best. However, I may cast the newbie in another role that could fit him/her. Another thing I do from time to time is try to cast an oldbie as a different character than last time...but only if I feel that their personality could fit more than one character. I guess it depends on which characteristic I'm looking at. Does that make sense?

~MsJ

Don't take it too hard, SpanishRumple. It's very easy to forget a person, even someone who you've spoken with before. I see Idiosylph here and at the Costuming board all the time, but of all the people, I forgot to put her on my list! (My apologizes, Idiosylph! I will not leave you off next time!) Anyway, I'm sure Nemi didn't do it on purpose. Wink

Question: What happens in the event of a tie?

Second item at hand:

I've been putting together a non-official tally of the votes. I began tallying only the characters I've been nominated for, but realized how helpful it is to see who has been nominated for what, and how many votes each person has gotten. Hence my new tally webpage. Please note that it is not finished; I just began it this morning and it takes a long time to mark everything down correctly in alphebetical order. Wink Feedback would be great, especially if it has helped someone (which is the goal). Wink

Keep those lists coming, people! Very Happy

The Long and the Short

Hi everyone...

So, I've posted my list and I thought I should say something about myself. I'm 27 and I'm a guy. I think I'm a very gentle person and I'm quite idealistic with a view that somehow everything will turn out right. I read and research a lot I also enjoy keeping things in order . I am quite knowledgable; I have very strong opinions and I defend them until the end. I think I'm pretty responsible, but I also know how to cut loose and have a good time...

Make of that what you will! And hope you are all having fun creating your cast lists.

Lady Jemima wrote:

In the case of a tie for the primary character role:

If it's a straight tie, the two 'winners' get to share the title of forum cast so-and-so.

If one of the two tie-ers also holds the highest place for another character, they will receive that character and free up the tie (the person who gets the other character will get to understudy the character that was tied).

Though a character may have several forum members sharing the title, casted members can only hold one main title. However, they may hold multiple understudy titles.

Cheers. Cool
Nemi

What do you mean you aren't on my list, Spanish_Rumple? I distinctly remember having your name on there. There's a good chance, however, I ended up not putting you back on there as I was switching everyone around. I appreciate you telling me, because, trust me, you weren't left off for a reason. And I do promise you were on there atleast at some point. I'll see what I can do about getting you on it...

Again, note... I've put newbie's on my list too... and made it a point to so so.

I'm sorry if I sound like a real jerk, guys. I just think people SHOULD put thought into their lists, and that seniority should bring people to mind.

I ALWAYS look who as posted their information in this forum when casting. They are the members that care the most about it.

The main point of my whole little speech was to remind you all to think before you cast. It's always best to have reason, and people like it more.
Alonza0

Oh, I wasn't trying to accuse any of you. I appreciate that most of you are casting the newbies. I was just posting that as a reminder and a sort of other side of the story since we had been talking about oldbies.

And thanks for answering my understudy question.
Jelliclaw

Hi everyone. I'm newer here and I really, really, want to be cast as someone, so here is everything you should know about me.

First of all, I am most like Alonzo and Demeter.

I'm like Alonzo because I can seriously be pretty tough or brave when I really need to be. I'm not exactly too strong, but I consider my heart strong and I'd do alot for those that I care about. Most of my friends wouldn't consider me brave because I don't show my Alonzo-ish side alot. Sort of like Alonzo, I don't always get much credit for what I do, I'm quite shy sometimes, and lots of me is a mystery. Plus Alonzo's my favorite cat.

I'm like Demeter because I'm nervous alot. There's so much stuff I'm scared of. Just about anywhere and anytime there's one or two things I'm scared of or worried about. I'm also pretty smart, and know things that lots of people would never guess that I knew. My friends are very close to me, like Demeter + Bombalurina, but unlike that pair of friends, my friends usually don't stand up for me or protect me.

I'm sort of those two mixed, like a scared Alonzo, I could say Laughing I'm nice and everything, but probably have many secrets. I'm also very funny at times, and love making up words...like chigglepat, keyputch, and other really wierd funny things. I love sharing jokes with people when I learn new ones.

I'm creative, I tell you! I love to draw. I draw animals, anime, Cats, and furry/anthro drawings. I draw mainly fantasy stuff. I also am a costumer. I make Cats costumes and I am currently working on my first fursuit - a wolf one. Wolves are awesome ^.^

Yes, I'm a furry. A newer one. I don't always feel comfortable saying I'm furry since I just joined the fandom. I don't like how people despise furries often. We're not bad. So as you may be able to tell, I hate it, hate it, HATE it when people misunderstand something or suddenly believe something before they know facts.

Lastly, I often get sad. And I often get excited. Sometimes I get sad or mad over small things, and excited over small things. Mixed media Laughing

That's about all I can say...please remember this info when you have fun doing your cast list and don't forget me Razz Ha. Just have fun.

Whoo...casting time...

Let's see, I've been nominated for Coricopat for as many times as I can remember (a twin thing Wink ), but he does kinda suit me since I really only chime in on the topics that catch my eye rather then general disscution.

I'm pretty calm most of the time, a little lazy perhaps until something really catches my attention. Then I'm all over it like white on rice.
Filakatessa

I'd like to say thank you to the people who cast me on their list! I know I haven't been around much in the last year, which is why it's quite touching to see my username on a cast list Smile

also, I don't know if it's been made clear, but I do believe that only complete cast lists posted by users can be accepted in the final tallies. I know that you have time to complete yours, but keep it in mind when you're casting your favourite characters Very Happy Make that vote count!

Okay, if your point was that people should put thought in to their lists, that makes sense. But you have to remember that the new ones don't know who are the old ones. And atleast this wasn't so very important to me first time, that I'd put time into checking the post counts.

Just for the record, I'm not taking sides on this. But I'm glad Mixu pointed out that newer members (such as myself) aren't completely familiar with older members--for instance, several people keep cropping up on the nomination tallies that I've never even heard of! But I think it's a good idea for new members to seach around a bit and check out member profiles (where you can also see what sorts of topics each members posts about) if they need help casting; I did this and it helped me get a much better idea of personalities. Just a thought. Wink

First thing, I thought you were allowed to have something like seven black spaces on your cast list?

Second, you might have covered this and I missed it, but what if, for example, Nemi wins in both the Demeter and the Electra category? Is she Demeter and Electrta?

Third, what is a swing?

Fourth, about understudies: Is there a set number that you have to be to be an understudy? Example: Right now ~Bal~ is winning with 6 votes for Pouncival. Enkeli-kitten and I have two votes for Pounce. So do we qualify as understudies? I probably got this whole concept wrong, but sometimes I need to hear things 2+ times to understand them, sorry. Smile

Alonza0 wrote:

Yep yep. Was going to correct that, but since you brought it up - For a cast list to be considered, you must have casted at least 30 character roles. There are 37 total. So yeah, 7 blank spots is your max, for those of you who don't feel like they can possibly finish. Then there are people like me, who wish there were about ten more names on the list. Laughing

Quote:

Assuming that one of the characters has more votes towards it (Demeter, 21, Electra, 12), she would earn the title of Demeter. If she had a personal tie going on, she would receive whichever one didn't have an obvious second-best. So, if She had 14 for both Electra and Demeter, and I managed 11 for Electra and MsJellicle managed 5 for Demeter, I'd get Electra and Nemi would take Demeter, leaving MsJellicle as an understudy.

Really, after too much more it gets really complicated and you're looking at a whole lot of things. So it ends up being at the discretion of MsJellicle and I. Usually we end up PMing back and forth, discussing it. So no worries, you're not just slapped somewhere. Consideration is taken.

Third, what is a swing?

In a production, it's an extra person who's available if any of the characters is injured or otherwise unable to go on stage. The 'extras.' For casting purposes, we put everybody who did not get any main or understudy roles in the swing list.

Quote:
Fourth, about understudies: Is there a set number that you have to be to be an understudy? Example: Right now ~Bal~ is winning with 6 votes for Pouncival. Enkeli-kitten and I have two votes for Pounce. So do we qualify as understudies? I probably got this whole concept wrong, but sometimes I need to hear things 2+ times to understand them, sorry. Smile

Do you mean do you have to have a certain number of votes to be eligible for an understudy role?

If you tie with someone for an understudy part and have the highest understudy or next highest understudy vote count, you'll probably be an understudy. Both of you (whoever tied) would make it. If say, the highest votes for Demeter are 16, and the next lowest vote count is 5, but there is a 4 way tie for understudy, all four will be understudies. However, this means that if someone got 3 underneath that, they probably won't be an understudy, as there are enough all ready. MsJellicle and I try to limit understudies to three or less, unless there are strong ties.

Hopefully I've gotten to everything? Feel free to ask if you have any more questions, no worries. =)

Cheers. Cool

Lady Jemima I agree on your point, yes we are new (well I'm pretty new here although I have appeared in some other places where I've met some people who are in here, let's say I'm somewhat known for a few people), but we have hints about some people, for instance those who post more often... well you get to know more or less their points of view. But now there is that other thread were people is talking about themselves, well that helps a lot too.

In my opinion yes it's hard to be a newbie but we can get going if we pay a bit of attention. However there was a thing that upseted me a bit, that was what Ms. Jellicle said that she wasn't going to put a newbie on a character that would fit equally well than a friend that she knows, I think that is a bit unfair. As well as we newbies read about the well known members personalities, I only ask that they take some time to read about our personalities too. And just then, if they can't really place us anywhere, then there's no problem to be out of the list, that's fine with me.

As Nemi told me that there probably had been a reason for not placing me in her list(although I see that now I'm on it), well that's ok for me, at least there is a reason and it's not because she had forgotten about me.

It's a bit hard to explain... I hope you've got the general idea. We don't mind if we're not in a list, just don't do it just because we're newbies, if we have given you the chance to get to know us.

P.S: Rumblepurr you're a great source of inspiration and learning English aswell...hehehe! I'm starting to write quite long posts Very Happy

Okay, and yes that is what I meant about understudies. This is a lot of questions, but I really want to know about the understudies and the swings.

Okay so with undestudies, what if you have the situation of Bustopher Jones currently, with everyone but the leading person having 1 vote? Are there understudies then?

And are people who didn't vote considered swings since they didn't vote and all? How about people who weren't voted for at all?

Yep, there are understudies still. Always understudies. It's just be a big tie, I imagine. XP Poooossiby in this case, MsJellicle and I would narrow down the understudies to those who didn't ahve any other roles anywhere. Unsure, though. This sort of thing is always a topic of discussion for us.

People who aren't voted for at all are not included anywhere on the final cast list, as swing or otherwise. Trust me, there are plenty people without tracking down more. Wink People who didn't vote can still be cast. You're not required to vote to be allowed on the final list. It's a nice thing to do, though. But yeah - If Creol still 'wins' as Tugger, even though he doesn't post too much anymore, his name will hold the main title on the character list.
MsJellicle

Yes understudies and ties and 'if this person won this role, then this next person gets to move up in this other role, but wait, they have more votes in this other role so they win that role instead and this first role will be won by the third in line, which means there is now a tie for the role, but wait, one of those might have won a role and..... etc, etc, etc...." It can be a bit of a headache, can't it? Smile But overall it's just for fun. Smile

That reminds me, Roxanne, we had people wanting to turn in lists after the closing date. It got to be a little bit hectic, didn't it? Do you recall if we decided not to allow people to turn in cast lists after the 'due date'?

I'm sorry you were upset by that. I didn't mean to upset anyone. The only reason I said that I put those I know better in the roles is...well...it's because I know them better, and feel that they fit that role. It doesn't mean that I don't take the time to check out the posts. I usually try to glance at all the posts all the time anyway. Nor does it mean that I won't place the newbie on the list at all. If I think the newbie could be put elsewhere on the list, then I will put them there. For example, I often see the kittens as quite similar in personality and if MrsJemimaMistoffelees gets Jemima, and think QuaxoCoricopat (just thought of a name off the top of my head) could fit Jemima and no one else had taken Sillabub, then I would put QuaxoCoricopat as Sillabub instead. There just aren't enough characters to try and place everyone, or else I would. This is also why, I try to sort of rotate each time the casting comes around. There are some castings I've done in which I've left off certain oldbies...not because I dislike them or anything...but to try and make some room for some newbies, and I feel that they wouldn't mind or that it it wouldn't make that much of a difference if I left them off that time. I would then try to remember to put them on the next list and leave someone else off. Does that make sense?

Yep, we decided not to let any allowances happen (if I remember correctly). They're just so hectic, on top of the lists that we have from the due date, and it makes it complicated if we're double checking lists off of volunteer tallies. Overall, it's just easy to stick to the due date. Too many things to think about otherwise. Laughing Andthen there's the problem of people who take advantage of it - last time, we didn't suspect, but it's not an assumption that you want to have to think about anyway. It's easier to just avoid it entirely.
MsJellicle

That's what I thought. Thanks. Smile BTW~ Thanks for answering the brunt of the questions (brunt? heck, all of the questions!). I don't get all the time I want on the computer lately due to my computer having troubles. I have to share computer time with hubby now. Smile

Well, Spanish_Rumple, what would you do? You've been a member of the forum a long time and you've known some of the people for a long time... When it comes to the role of Carbucketty, you know that "Oldbie_1" and "Newbie_100" would both fit the part. Who would logically get the part? Who's put more time into the forum? Who do you know better?

Seniority is always a logical tiebreaker. Just think, you'll be an oldbie one day. I started out as a newbie. Everyone here did.

Being a newbie is not a BAD thing, and, trust me, more oldbies notice you than you'd imagine. It's harder to be new and to learn everyone at once than it is for all the oldbies to realize who you are. I know how hard it is to be a newbie, I understand that.

I mean, just look at the lists, kiddos. You're on them.

While you've been trying to learn who tons and tons of people are, we've noticed who you are. One person learning who one person is is much easier than one person learning who one hundered people are...

[/rambling and such]

I'm not called Nemi-anydots for nothing Wink... though, I might be the only one who really calls me that... hmm.

It's not that we don't care, it's that this is supposed to be fun. And it's kind of a drag when people whine. Everyone's a teensy little bit sad when they see a cast list without their name, but if people at least pretend to treat this lightly, like the game it's meant to be, it's better all 'round--no unnecessary drama, and then you think "Hey, even though Nemi didn't include me in her cast, it's so fun to imagine her as Etcetera!" and learn to lighten up, or at least that's what I did.

I speak from experience, newbies *waggles finger in motherly fashion* If you can't say something nice...you're turning into me. And that role is currently filled, so nyah.
Nemi

Curses on you and making me think I didn't put you on my list Razz

Ooooh yeeees. I are evil. Whee. Wait, "whee" doesn't sound evil. Muahaha. There, evil.

NEWBIE POWER!!!!! WHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*caaaalms....*

Ok, I'm normal again now....at least, as normal as I ever get which probably isn't normal for anyone else...ok I'm rambling now...

Anyway what I was GOING to say before I got distracted by newbies Very Happy is that this is a really fun game and I expect there are discussions like this quite a lot, maybe everyone should just flooaat around in a skwoobly sort of way and not really care whether they got voted for, just be happy when they do get their fav part!! ^-^

...

*goes off to plot revenge for those who didn't vote for her* Muahahahahaaa... Wink

True, I understand that. But I actually didn't think of that before it was pointed to me. I thought the rule was purely for protecting people's mental health Smile.

I think skwoobly is my new favorite word.
Spanish_Rumple

Well... in fact if I must tell you the truth, I did just what I mentioned when I posted my list: I've been reading the posts since I entered, that's why I got to know some of you more or less, then I've been reading the posts in this thread because people talk about themselves and then I decide. But I've been picking people depending on what they've written. How often they write it's important too because you can recall them better. Now answering your question on what would I choose, Nemi, I'd say that I don't stop to think if they are old or new I pick depending on how they write or sometimes what they say. For instance I haven't guided myself by what they say about what character they prefer, I put them on where I personally think they fit best. That's why in my description I didn't put who were the characters that fitted me best because I want that people judge me more objectively and guided by their own thoughts.

I haven't put in my list many people that have put me on their list, I'm sorry for that, it's true that there is a lot of people here and a little number of characters to fit everybody in.

I wonder if it would be possible to put more than one people in a character, but I think that would make the tally more difficult to do.

You're right, that would make the tallies uneven. Only one name can be used in a spot on a cast list. for instance...you cant put Roxanne in both Rumpleteazer and Victoria, you would have to find the best place for her and only put her in one of those slots.
JemiBoe1981

I have not gotten to post here due to school and varius auditions... wow.

Anyway, I am THRILLED to be leading Etcetera... I certainly try, if I may say so myself. It's so fun to be known as basically one character ALOT like you!

I've gotten some other interesting votes. Victoria was a neat surprise. Jerllylorum, too, though we aren't much alike, IMO. But whatever. And Mungojerrie (I had some Mungo's and some Misto's last time) is fun.

Rumpus Cat? THAT was new.

But I still think I am mostly Etcetera.
Roxanne

No problem, MsJ. Smile I actually kind of like answering so many questions. Laughing It makes me feel more official or something. XP

It's the simple things in life, right? Laughing

That's definitely a rule. You can't cast anyone more than once in your list. A lot of people make this mistake (not intentionally; I'm pretty sure it's one I made last time Laughing), and if you do, you'll get a friendly PM 'bout it.

However, I think you (Spanish_Rumple) were asking about casting more than one person in the same role? It would be a convenient solution to wanting to cast more people, certainly, but it would make the tallies slightl
