Beagle On Stage

Jacob in EgyptWhat is with productions cutting the Narrator's descant at the end of "Jacob in Egypt"? It's gorgeous and exactly what the song needs to make it shine, and yet often no one does it. I was the one to do it in my production and it was pretty hella.
Also, have you seen a production that didn't use the chariot of gold? In a few productions I've seen, the lyrics were just changed to "in his garments made of gold," so Joseph just walked up to Jacob. I must say, it's a very practical idea and eliminates a bulky set piece that would be difficult to maneuver and store for 10 seconds of stage time - I just never would have thought of it myself.
(Side note: I've also seen a production that had Joseph making a grand entrance pulled by his brothers, who he had harnessed to the chariot. It was pretty cute and got a great laugh, but it kind of invalidated the message of the show. lol)
