Thw great character actor died today at age 87.

I knew Mr. Palance, he lived only 30 minutes from me here in Pa. until a few months ago.....he will be missed.

I'm shocked too -- 'cause I hadn't heard anything about this until I saw your thread. You'd think his death would have made a bigger news splash. I guess the "entertainment world" is still too broken up about Britney and K-Fed's divorce.

It has made the news here in Australia either, which is unusual for such a legend.

Could be that our news has been dominated by the death of a young Australian actress to cancer (she was on in her early 30's) and the fact that Kylie Minogue has started her concert tour again after a battle with cancer.

It's sad that I didn't know this until I saw this thread. But then, the newspapers and tabloids are full to the brim with stuff on Britney and K-Fed's divorce, and the fact that Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise have a wedding date. What is wrong with society???

The first thing I ever saw him in was Tim Burton's Batman, and he was good even in such a shallow part.

Extremely sad. I hadn't known about this until I saw your thread either. As someone else mentioned, half the things in the news today are rubbish anyways. I could care less about Brittany and K-Fed.
