J&H chorus?

Hey everyone,

I would post this on the audition forum, but it seems the J&H experts are here!

I'm trying to find out what there is in J&H for women other than Emma and Lucy- don't think I can manage a lead with another show going on at the same time. Anyway, is there an active chorus or smaller female roles? And how "dancy" can the chorus get? Ie, do I haul out the leo and tights?

Any info would be greatly appreciated, since the music I've been able to get a hold of hasn't answered my questions! I want to make sure I don't waste the directors time, thanks! (I'd rather waste yours ha! Razz )

You pretty much summed up my question too. We're doing this and I know I won't end up with a lead role especially since I basically missed the auditions because I had an appendectomy. ha. I'm just wondering if most of us are just going to be chorus.

It really depends on the director.

The only other female role of note besides Emma and Lucy is Lady Beaconsfield -- and to a lesser degree, Nellie, the madame.

Hi

we recently finished doing this show and the parts for women are pretty slim.

Theres Emma, Lucy, Lady beaconsfiedl and Nellie and then we had six main prostitutes who did the majority of the red rat scene and the number bring on the men.

I had one of these roles and was happy with this.

Hope you find something that suits

Thanks- wound up having way too many conflicts. Got a better gig, anyway Mr. Green

Hopefully the next time an opportunity to do this show arrises, I'll have a clear enough schedule to go for Emma.

On the bright side, the chorus has a lot of stuff to do - in addition to the main company numbers "Façade" (plus reprises 1 through 4, although those are pretty short) and "Murder, Murder" there is a lot of chorus accompaniment written for solo numbers. Off the top of my head I can think of "Alive" & its reprise, "A Dangerous Game" and "The Confrontation." If your director makes good use of the chorus, then you won't be bored.
