Is there a role for me in OUAM?So, I have been asked to audition for a production of Once Upon a Mattress that is going up in May. (A girl that I know through school and through my boyfriend is directing it.)
I usually do "charming young lady" roles, I'm confident dancer, etc... but here's the thing. I'm not a strong or confident singer. Ever since a singing teacher in grade 9 told my class that "Erin has a unique voice. Nobody else here has a voice quite like hers" in a bad way. My past roles in musicals have always been dance/non-singing roles. Things like Liza in Peter Pan or Katherine/the dance captain and Urleen/Ren's Mother u/s in Footloose.
Are there any non-heavy singing female roles? If I could sing well, I'd be the perfect Larkin, but that's not going to happen in the next two months.
Is this something I should bother doing? Or should I beg off because I'm "busy" and not waste anyone's time?

The Queen only sings one song, and its not a difficult song. She is one of the leads, has a lot of stage and many lines, including one huge monolog. It's a great role.
There are a few ladies in waiting with names who each have a few lines. One is Beatrice who leads the group in a dance called the Spanish Panic.
The Wizard could possibly be played by a woman, and he only sings a couple lines in the Queen's song.
If this production does it, there is also a ballet at the very beginning.
Good luck.
