is a narrator a good part

I just tried out and i am so excited i got a part. i was wondering how good of a part a narrator is. i'll be in all the chorus songs too. This is the jr version and im in seventh grade.

Are you sure you're "a" narrator? BatB only has one narrator, THE Narrator. I don't see how the director could split the lines.

Anyway, you will be the first person the audience hears speak. The whole Prologue is spoken by you. And yes, you will also be in the ensemble (which is not so bad if I say so myself; I've done BatB ensemble before).

Congratulations and have fun with the show! Very Happy

In the Jr. version they added 4 narrators and expanded their role. You speak during the Prolouge, the wolf attacks, and depending which number narrator you are depends what other scenes you are in. All in all, it's a nice role.

Oh really? I had no idea! I'm surprised they'd make such a big change as that.

I was suprised too when I first saw it. I think they made the change because the Jr. show is geared toward Elementary and Middle Schools, as well as smaller children theatres, so it allows more parts for the students.

I honestly think having the four narrators on stage really messes up the beginning. At least in the production I am in, the stage looks cluttered with them, the Beast, and the Enchantress.

They're on-stage? In the full version the narration is spoken from off-stage.

Yes, they are on-stage. As talented as the narrators are, I cannot stand it one bit. When the director was staging it, I was cringing watching her figure out where she wanted them to stand. On top of that, the Enchantress walks on stage behind the narrators.

Man, that sucks. It's such a strong show by itself. It doesn't need narrators. Rolling Eyes

You just got to love those jr shows and all the changes made to the stories. Rolling Eyes

I guess that's a good part..and that's a major role too..
You we're the one handling the story...and I guess,
the story lies on your hands too...

Just do a good job with it...

I agree with the people hating changes. I'm just glad our directors will take the Junior Script and pepper it with the original.

That's slightly hypocritical. Buying the rights to perform the Broadway Junior version then "peppering it with the original" IS making changes.
