Into the Woods Audition

Okay here's the thing. The auditions are starting Monday. Monday is dance auditions, Tuesday is singing. Wednesday is acting. I'm auditioning for Little Red Ridinghood and I'm singing My New Philosophy from YAGMCB. The thing I need help with is the acting. I'm good with whatever dancing will be thrown at me and I'm fairly confident with my song. Does anyone have any videos of a good performance of Little Red or any other valuable tips? They would be greatly appreciated. I know with a fact that no matter what I will get a part in the show because it is at a theatre camp and whoever goes to the camp is cast in the show. There isn't going to be an ensemble either, they're planning on breaking the narrator up into a bunch of parts.

well, i don't have any clips or anything, but when i was in ITW i thought our little red did brilliantly.

two things to remember with little red: little girl, and bratty, bratty, bratty.

she's a spoiled, rotten, selfish little kid who cares greatly about herself and not so much for others. she's very immature, so be sure to act like you're about 5 years old. completely innocent, yet bratty as can be. does that make sense?

and at the part where the baker takes her cloak (incase that's part of the audition), and little red bursts into tears, don't be afraid to make it HUGE. it doesn't matter if it sounds fake; she's a bratty little girl, and bratty little girls often fake-cry to get what they want. but make it big. the bigger it is, the funnier it will be. try going super high and whiney and first and then bursting into a huge sob.

i'll come back later if you need more.

May I just say that was brilliant advice CYTthespian! Applause

thanks for the help!
I got sides for the auditions and i was so excited to see that the one scene was the part when the baker takes little red's cape. I continued reading and then noticed that it was cut before she actually threw her fit. Darn! I was pretty upset.
Thank you, thank you, thank you so, so, so, so, so much help!

Aw, thanks!
I would've done my best.
Well, hopefully if I get the part I'll get to throw a fit!
I've always wanted to on stage.
I've played a brat before, but sadly, no fit. Sad
