Hi everyone...Im planning on auditioning for ITW in about a month. The audition notice just came out and it said they want someone to play Red who is "teens - 20's". Im 24 and 5'8. But i also feel that I am a really good character actor. Do you guys think I would even have a chance being the height I am...or should I just audition for another character? For the audition we need to sing a song from the show...so if I was going for Red I was going to sing her part in the opening song, but if I am going to audition for something else I was going to sing a part from
"Stay with Me". Just looking for some advice. Thanks for your help!

I'd go for a different part. I've always pictured little red shorter. It might be a problem if you were taller than Baker's Wife or Cinderella...

I'm 5'3" and it was between me and someone else for Little Red...They picked her...She was like 5'. Now I don't know if that was because I wasn't right for the part or she was shorter but it happened. I don't know how short they want Red in the show you are auditioning for but they almost always want her on the small side(so as to appear more childlike). But if they have audition sheets if they ask what parts you are interested in, pick someone else and also put little Red on there in case they are going to overlook the hight thing, you never know!

If you are a mezzo-sprano, I would actually strive for Cinderella and sing "On The Steps of the Palace".
