Incomprible Vocal Range?Catchy title, eh? Actually, my theater school is doing the show, and I'm just wondering what the vocal range of Elsa is? She listed as an alto, but high/low does she have to go, and how high does she have to belt?

She sings mostly in mid-range, but the end of "No Way to Stop It" requires her to sustain a high B... (natural, I think?)
Unless your director is brilliant (like my last one! LOL!) and uses the end of the song to escalate the argument...then she doesn't get the high note...it ends with "nothing else as wonderful as (captain-spoken) I! Me! On one thing alone we agree!"
She gets two of the best songs in the show!

Yes, a legit role indeed. I performed it recently, and i was thankful for my operatic training. (For the record i don't belt, and i'm a lyric soprano).

the second one, note below a high C (where i put the smiley) (it's a natural). I looked in my libretto from when I did it at our theatre, and it's the Broadway libretto.

WOW! I didn't expect her range to be that high. I remember that one time we did the show, we had a soprano play the role (she understudied the Mother Abess). I also remember that another time I did it, she struggled a lot with that note. -
