A few tip on finding nice kittens: this worked for my three cats and my friends.
Pick them up, stroke them gently and see what they do. If they bat at you or bite, they could grow up very scratchy. even though it doesn't hurt and it's cute when they're little, it's painful when they're cats!!! The best ones will let you stroke their tummies without minding. Also, watch out for the ones that are climbing everywhere etc. They're more outgoing and more likely to become scratchy. Make sure the kitten you get isn't the runt, because they have to fight for food in early life and then have agression problems.
Also, this might not count if you're getting it from a shelter, but the longer kittens stay with their mother the more social they are. 6-8 weeks is the best age, because they'll bond with you best in that age. The most sociable cats are Abyssinian and Persain (they often follow you around the house, and purr when they're with you - so cute!!! however you need to be dedicated to them cos they get depressed with no attention), and long-haired cats are usually calmer. And in my experience, male cats tend to have nicer personalities so long as they are castrated.
I hope this helps you in choosing the best Jellicle for you!! Good luck!!

I just realised that this sounds exactly like I find my friends this way. Lol! Yep, I stroke their tummies and see if they bite!
