If Elphaba Were Alive Today...1. She'd be a hardcore vegan
2. She'd be the most hardcore member of PETA
3. She'd appear on Ripley's Believe it or Not. Against her will.
4. She'd personally see to it that Simon Cowell and all other mean, shallow men died horrible deaths
5. She'd make little children piss their pants...unintentionally
6. She'd steal every pair of ruby shoes she came across
7. She'd visit the zoos to talk to the monkeys
If Galinda/Glinda were alive today:
1. She'd be shopping at every high-end store
2. She'd be Paris Hilton's best friend
3. Find and date every rich, elegible bachelor she could
If Fiyero were alive today:
1. he'd be following Elphaba around like a lovesick puppy
2. He'd defend Elphaba and protect her from everything
3. Act 1 Fiyero would be going to strip clubs and bars as often as he could
please continue these lists, and have fun!

Aren't all those things basically how it is in the show anyways? Why does it have to be modern day?
Fiyero doesn't follow Elphaba around like a love sick puppy in the play?
Elphaba doesn't make little children piss their pants?
Galinda doesn't shop in high end malls?

It's not necessarily modern day, just our society instead of Oz...but I suppose you're right in a way...but still, I don't think Veganism and Ripley's exist in Oz...I'm just trying to imagine what it would be like if those characters were *regular* American/British/Canadian etc. citizens. Meh, I guess they'd be much the same, wouldn't they?
What era would you put them in? (out of curiousity)

That's why I said IF...it's called imagination...people don't have to be real for you to put them in different situations..take the Phantom of Manhattan...someone took a fictional charater, The Phantom, and placed him in a totally different situation, a "what if" story...it may not have been any good (I haven't read it, so i wouldn't know  ) but it sounds interesting.
