I've fallen in love with YouTube for song and show researchMaybe you're all already onto this but YouTube has been a great tool for me in the last few days to do initial show and audition song research. I've found names of potential audition songs that I've never heard of, but then was able in most cases to find a performance of the song on YouTube. This has allowed me to quickly discern which songs feel right for me and what I'd enjoy singing. Now I've got a tight list of 3-4 possibilities for the show I plan to audidion for. And I've viewed lots of great performances from film clips and quickly been exposed to more show material.
Not to mention, YouTube is fun. I've never used it much but it has been great for research.
ETA: Not that YouTube replaces getting your own copy of a show, but it's very interesting to see the variety of performances and to do when you haven't had time yet to rent the video or get your library copy or are waiting for your Amazon order to ship.

I'm a youtube ADDICT.
I'm considering shelling out the 400$ for an ipod touch SIMPLY for the reason that it has youtube on it.

Ahh... yes! I just did that the other day!!! Looked up a whole bunch of songs to see if I ever wanted to learn them. Love looking up favorite shows to see/hear people sing songs form them, community theater performances, etc.

Looking up shows and songs on YouTube has been steadily destroying my grades over the past two weeks. The current destroyer? The Scarlet Pimpernel. *shakes fist* Blast you and your convenient entertainment, YouTube!
