"Taaaaaaalk like thiiiiis."
And giggle. That's basically how our Zaneeta was.
It was cute, and she did a great job. Smile a lot, too.
I've always seen her portrayed a bit ditzy, and kind of "blonde."

(This is somewhat copied n' pasted from a thread where I already posted it):
I think a good character voice is a good way to stick out. Some productions don't have Zaneeta do one, so I guess just use your judgement on what you think the director would prefer--but I just think the voice adds so much... When I was in this show, our Zaneeta did a voice that struck the perfect balance between a cute little girl and a hint of something grating and obnoxious. But the audience loved her.
Her pronunciation of the lines is very dramatic--she takes herself really seriously, so when she's trying to act adult-like, she gets easily frustrated when no one listens to her and such. But then, when she's playing around with Tommy or whatever, she also knows how to I don't know what parts the director will have you read, but it might help to keep that in mind.
I'm not sure if I can help you with being "cutesy," but just try to be be really flirtatious with Tommy, like using good body language (touching his arm and whatnot), giggling when he says something that's even the slightest bit funny, etc. Oh, but she's still pretty young and kind of immature, so think silly and giggly--not sexy (that may be obvious, but I'm just saying it, just in case).
I hope this helped, and good luck!

When I was in this show, our Zaneeta squeaked a lot...but it's only effective if it's not overly done. I think the best line she delivered was "Ye Gads," and she squeaked on the "Ye" part. She also rolled her eyes and was very 'whatever' to her father.

Maybe try and make your voice a little higher when you say her lines. Giggling & squeaking also sounds good. When I was auditioning, the directors basically told us they wanted us to make her really ditzy. Just keep thinking annoying-yet-sweet teen girl.

You don't have to be a girly girl and either way, acting is being someone your not so it doesn't matter if you are or not. Some ways to pull off Zaneeta may be to talk in a higher voice, laugh like a young child (gives innocence to the character, and in this case it's supposed to be a good girl falling in love with badboy Tommy Djilas) and like someone else said, squeak the Ye in "Ye gads!!!" Our Zaneeta did that and she was excellent

ye godsim zaneeta right now and i know what works for me is, the higher voice, and really sell the "ye gods" she doesn't have to be ditzy b/c if u notice she reads in like every scene so shes not dumb, just a normal giggly 1900's teen (u kno they were more kidish then now), im sure once u read the script and read her lines like the "libarry" and "i didn't have any idea u was bekoning to me, ye gods" you'll get it, break a leg
