I Need YOUR Help! (Headshots)With headshots...THE EYES ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT!I got my proofs on Saturday. I LOVE the first pic, but I need to know how old I look in this picture. Please keep in mind that these have not been touched up yet and also that they may be VERY dark on some computers, depending on your color settings...with that said, here it is: http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m78/Jazzygirlsings/?action=view¤t=JasminDSC_0667BJasminDSC_0667BSELEC.jpg And I'm on the fence about a lot of my smiley ones... This one needs some shadows reduced below my eyes and my ear airbrushed out...also clean-up of the hair... http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m78/Jazzygirlsings/?action=view¤t=JasminDSC_0714BJasminDSC_0714BBSELE.jpg This one I'm not too keen on my hairdo, but I have a softer look... http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m78/Jazzygirlsings/?action=view¤t=JasminDSC_0558BJasminDSC_0558BSELEC.jpg There are others, but I'll show them to you later... |

Get your butt back to the "virtual smackdown" thread! LOL! |

The first one does make you look older than the other two. It's nice, except that I think there's too much white showing in your eyes. (Personally I'm a fan of headshots when you're looking straight ahead, not to the side.)I don't really like the first smiley one, I think your neck is twisted in a weird angle. The "purple smiley" is better. That one has a younger look than the first one. I think your eyes look the best in that one. But that first one is very sophisticated looking. I'm tied between those two (the "purple smiley" and the first one.)

For the smiling shots, the second of the two is my favourite. Its more youthful, its more face forward and I love your eyes in that shot.
My opinion probably means nothing as I hate my headshot but yet still do ok with it. |

Thank you for your input!
I personally think the eyes are saying something kinda mysterious in the first one. I've had a lot of CD's tell me that they would want me to come in to see what I was like from that shot... I'm sorta thinking of the purple smiley as well, but still not totally sold on it... |

One!!! Hands Down!
For sooo many reasons. You look younger, less posed (more performer than graduate), and it is composed better. It is by far the professional shot! Please choose it! |

I agree with Jenem. The first one, hands down, makes you look the most professional and makes it look like you know who you are. I think your eyes say so much, I'm reading that you're fun and youthful but you know when it's time to be serious and work. If I were casting, I would see that picture and say, "I want to work with her." Also, this is hard to explain, but I couldn't pick an age range because I saw different ones in it. You could play the younger engenue or an older leading lady. Honestly. And I think that's great, different casting directors see you different ways, and I think this would apply to a lot of different CD's.
Go with #1, neighbor! |

Thank you, neighbor! (God knows I probably see you all the time and don't know it! LOL!)
That's what I originally thought when I saw it, too...The thing is, I think that shot would get me in the door of a lot of casting places...or at least, I hope it would! I think there's a lot going on in the eyes and I feel like it can be interpreted a bazillion different ways...And it is a bit ambiguous, age-wise...I LOOOOVE #1!!!! So I'm DEFINITELY going to go with #1, but I would like to choose a "smiley" as well...which of those two toothy ones? The black or the purple? |
||
| Jenem |
If you want a smiley one, go with the black.
| jazzygirlsings |
Why should I listen to you? Just kidding...why do you pick the black? There are others who like the purple as well... DEFEND IT, GIRL! LOL! |
||
| Jenem |
^lol. You hate me now don't you? I'm just trying to help! I like the black smiley one (as opposed to the purple smiley one) becuase you look more natural and relaxed, more like I would expect you to look from having talked to you for the past few months on the forum (beat that rationale!) Basically, I think you look more real, more like "you". This is important, right? |
||
| jazzygirlsings |
Yeah...I 'spose it's better if I looked like myself! LOL!
And I don't HATE you! LOL! I just despise you a little! (That needed a TRIPLE wink, cuz you know I love you! LOL!) |

My poll looks like a middle finger! LOL! Sorry! I'm losing my mind! It's been a long week! I had another question about the shot... Do you feel like it has a lot of energy to it? |
||
| AllThatJazzHands |
Jazzy, I love the first pic the best. And if you want a smiley one, I'd go with black, too. That one makes you look more "fun", more energy in it, too.
| sunrae |
haha! It does look like a middle finger!
Yes, I do think that first shot has a lot of energy to it. It seems to say "Yeah, you know you want me!" |

OK, so I gave it some thoguht before I answered. I went to your entire photobucket page and looked at some of the other pics form the shows you have been in. To be honest, I don't think any of them do you justice. You look stunning as eliza and maria. I don't wanna sound rude and I hope you don't take it the wrong way. I mean I think they look good, but don't do you justice. I hope you don't think I am mean. It is actual;ly more a compliment. As an experienced CD none of them pop out to me at all. The serious one, I don't knwo. Yes teher seems somethign behind your eyes, plus I think it makes you look mid thirtiesThe purple smiling one is a bad crop but you look very "sweet" in that one. I actually prefer the black smiling one out of all of them. I liek the whole side looking look, but I think a more-to the camera is more flattering for your face. are there other options? Please feel free to completely disregard this email but those are my opinions.
| jazzygirlsings |
Please keep in mind that I haven't had any of these touched up yet. The way they are cropped is not exactly what they are going to be cropped as...and many of the "dark areas" are going to be lightened and brightened up. Which will probably change the look of it a bit. And the Maria and Eliza pics are great, but they were also taken a couple years ago now, to be honest. And I had different hair as well...
I actually like that I've gotten a lot of varied responses regarding my age on this, so that's also a good thing...According to this poll and others that I've posted elsewhere, most people think that I don't look mid-thirties in that first pic, so it's safe to say that most CD's will probably think that I am between 25-30ish, which is what I am... I agree that I look more mature, but I feel like it's more that I know who I am now as opposed to actually looking older. I love that a pretty decent percentage of people think I look 20-25 as well...that surprised me a lot... So the fact that the interpretation spans a good 10 years among the many people who viewed this, as well as my producer and CD friends, shows that this pic could show a great many things...The point is to get CD's to call me in the first place. And I agree that I like the black smiley better of the two smiley photos...The purple smile looks a bit forced to me, now that I take another look at it... But I really do value your opinion, as always! And I'm really glad that you took the time to look at my photobucket page! You didn't have to do that! That was incredibly sweet! I will try to post other pics, but I'm stuck at home right now and I have a crappy computer! Thanks for your help, sweetie! Your honestly is greatly appreciated. I guess the initial paragraphs are the conclusions I've come to after looking at them for a few days/polling people/polling CD's/etc. And thanks for calling my stage pics "stunning"! Another thought I just had is this...even within the pics that were taken for this round of headshots, I have a very expressive face and you wouldn't believe the differences in age, etc. that came out as a result of different outfits, hairstyles, facial expressions, etc. I will post one of my funny "Trailer Trash" pics and show you what I mean. I guess my best defense is to put a couple of the younger looking headshots on the back of my resume in smaller shots. I also have a website, so that could help CD's if they need to get a feel for what I've done, etc... |

jazzy.. you know you want to give us all a link to your website.
| shadowdancer |
Well the pics are stunning! See that is the problem with headshots. I wish i oculd pick like 6 diffreent looks becaus eyou never knwo what you will need. Websites are a great idea as well! Could you post some of your other headshot options? |
||
| jazzygirlsings |
^I will definitely post some more of the pics that were in the running as soon as I'm able to get onto a non-ghetto computer! (Which means I'll do it when I'm supposed to be working again on Monday or so!) LOL!
But really shadowdancer, thanks SO MUCH for your input! As for giving out my website, I'm generally not too keen on that with everyone for security reasons...But otherwise, you can see many of my performing pics on my photobucket page! And I've found that a website is a wonderful tool and that a lot of casting people actually use it! |
