I need a directors advice?

we have auditions for our school play coming up. I really want to be in it. Its for our high school, and im a freshman. They usually take 2-4 freshman guys for chorus. I'm probably the 2nd best singer. I've done 6 other shows recently and am more invloved in theatre then any other freshman guy. I need to know what I can do to really impress the director. I really don't want to see pushy. How can I really better to make my chances?

Well, what's the show?

1. If you see the director around school or soemthing, casually express interest in the show.

2. Kick butt at auditions.

My advice to all freshman (myself included):

SUCK UP.

A LOT.

It will get you far in theatre.

But which freshman is going to get the token "freshman role"? The one who just walks into auditions, or the one who has been talking with the director for a while?

Heh, well the director/drama instructor at my school is really friendly, so nobody needs to suck up or anything... Only like 10 freshmen got into the fall drama though. Tons tried out. Confused

And the asst. director is mean as heck. If somebody sucks up to him, he tells them to stop. Yowch.

Mention your other shows.
One of the biggest drawbacks to casting freshman is that directors are unsure of their dedication, so the fact that you've done other shows means that you will put this show as a priority and be responsible when it comes to rehearsals and such.
