I'm a shoe-in for Sandy but I want Rizzo

next july my school is doing Grease, but theya re auditioning principals in 2 weeks.

As I am the "never put a foot out of line" girl at school, they all see me as Sandy. Although I would accept the role and do it very well, I don't really want it. I want Rizzo. Now, it is very hard to show them this when they have given us all our audition material: we have to sing "Hopelessly Devopted to You" and "There are Worse Things I Could Do" as well as the scene at the Drive-in when Danny gives Sandy the ring.

It is also just a general principal audition - you don't actually put your name down for particular characters.

How do I show my teachers - all 3 of whom I am very close to - that I want Rizzo and would do an amazing job?
Ariel

I'm in the same situation as you!!! Except I can't sing a song from the show, and my show is in March....

I don't want to be Sandy!! I want to be RIZZO! rawr

Well, the obvious answer here is do the best job on There are Worse Things I Could Do than anyone else. Wink

Just really try and get into character when doing There Are Worse Things I Could Do - really perform it well so that they can see you playing the part. Then you can always say something like you know you aren't putting your names down for specific roles but you would really like to do be considered for Rizzo. There is nothing wrong with saying that, and it can't hurt for them to know that you are really more interested in that role than Sandy when it comes to them casting the show.

Do you have any idea of other people going for Rizzo?

Because if you do, then you can kill them if there's still time.

That's my strategy for most auditions...but usually I dont have enough time.

When used, though, its very effective.

Speaking of which, have either Allie or Ariel heard anything back from Spring Awakening?

I thought most of the B'dway contracts were up in November and the ensemble kids had to give at least 3 - 4 weeks notice if they weren't going to renew ...

Best of luck to both of you when/if you do hear something! Applause

They're done with me for the TOUR (Sad) but my agent says I'm on their hot file (?) for B'way replacements, so............here's to hoping!
Trevor

They called me and asked me to play Moritz.

Are you being serious or just a jackass?

Cause I support it either way.

I agree.

Well, I suppose if you are against murder, you could always starting showing people you are a Rizzo. Explode a few fire extinguers, be found making-out with some guy in your or a teacher's car, have a pregnancy scare. Very Happy

Are you done being considered for the tour 'cause they're now only looking for 18+?

Either way, congrats on staying in their 'hot' file ... Spring Awakening is likely to be around for a while, so if your age is an issue it won't matter in the future.
