I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change

Has anyone else besides me seen this musical. I saw it and I loved it. It has to be one of the best musicals revues ever.
DancnInTheRain

I've never seen it, but i have the soundtrack and absolutely love it! Three of my friends and i did the finale (minus the talking in the beginning) for contest and got a first.
Christine_Colgate

i've seen it and loved it to pieces.
MsDivaKate

I was supposed to see the cast of it when they did they're performance for Broadway in the Park in Bryant Park here in NYC. However it was over 100* that day with the heat index and I didn't feel like crowding in with a bunch of people.

ive never actually heard of it being performed locally so havent seen it.. however we did highway of love in a revue in 2004 so i assume the rights are out and about so hopefully i'll get to see it. From what ive heard it fantastic, highway of love is certainly a hoot Very Happy

A local amateur company did this show last year as a six person show rather than a four person.

It's a great show! Extremely funny and clever.

I saw this show at a dinner theater with my mom and dad--which was a little uncomfortable, lol. I hadn't heard much of it prior to seeing it, aside from the song "Always a Bridesmaid, Never a Bride," which I love. I really enjoyed it! After seeing it I went out and got the CR because I enjoyed it so much. I could see how it wouldn't suit everyone's tastes, but it has fun music and the scenes are mostly funny and a few are sort of heartwarming (but not cheesy). Lol. Very Happy

We saw it before it went to Broadway, when it was playing in Laguna Beach (world premiere)...We loved this show!!! Especially, the song starting off, "Hey...there...lonely girl...." with the parents singing to the kids! hysterical!

When we saw it, during the Baby talk song, one of the women in the audience was laughing so hard and yelled out the next line before the actor could sing it (the bye-bye line)...the audience broke down in laughter....as did the actor, the piano player and the violinist (they were staged above the actors where the audience could see them)...it actually stopped the show!!!

Am i the only one who finds it rather amatuerishly written?
cammybroon

eh, not the strongest peice of musical theatre literature in the world, but certainly entertaining none-the-less...

I performed in a production of I Love You, You're Perfect in Sydney last year and it is one of the few shows that I could say that I'd do again in a second. It's not a musical full of depth and layers, but it is based on real life. And out of all the characters in the show, the audience can easily relate one, if not more of them.
The music is modern and well written, the lyrics are funny and clever and all in all, it's just a fun show to be in and to watch.... well I think so anyway.

Timmmmy! Very Happy

i have the soundtrack and the music hasn't really done anything for me so far, maybe it'll grow on me

I had something under "Other Shows" about this, but you guys seem knowledgeable so I'll ask here too...

Our theater is looking for it's next season and we need a small musical. this seems to fit, but no one really knows it, and I'm leery of the content.

What might be a little racy or offensive in the show? Imagine seeing it with your grandmother and if she would be offended. I'm looking for specifics like language in the lyrics/ obscenities, R rated situations, etc. (our audiences are fairly conservative)
Thanks!!!

The language is clean, so you don't have to worry about that.

The only part I can think of that might be construed as offensive is the sex/law scene. There is a spoken (not sung) scene in Act I where a couple finds themselves completely bored with their sex lives. A lawyer from Jacoby & Meyers/Masters and Johnson does an infomercial to litigate a happy sex life including, "I got $10,000 because she wouldn't go down on me!"

Other than this scene (which can easily be cut out), I don't find anything that could be construed as offensive about the show.
