MOVIE BLEEDER ALERT!

Gah. I respect your love for Mr. Depp, but I cannot stand fangirls who only (and don't truly) love Sweeney for Johnny Depp being in the recent movie.

If you really appreciate Sweeney Todd, that's understandable, and please say so, but if you're just another Depp fangirl, please spare us.

I'm not trying to be mean, but that's how it goes and I don't want you getting bashed (sorry if that sounded like bashing).

Very Happy

So you're saying George Hearn has the best voice in the entire world? =P
Catherine

Well...

Nah, I'm joking, but if a person (if they aren't a troll, that is) thinks Johnny has the best voice in the world, they need a reality check. In the form of the Hearnmeister. Oh dear Lord I'm so sad.

Why would you blue-card it? The OP isn't spamming the board or trying to sell anything. Just because you disagree with their views dosen't mean you should alert the mods about them.

Because trolls don't belong here and this, my friend, is a troll.

Not even Bush is that retarded.
pish123c

That's very possible, but it could also just be a very inarticulate, fan-girl type. It happens. There's really no way to prove who is right and who is wrong.

I'm sorry, it's just we get a lot of Depp fangirls coming through here who do only see it because of Johnny, and it's hard not to assume that you're not another one. Thankfully you're not. I'm glad you love the movie (and hopefully soon the stage musical) not only for Johnny. Very Happy

It's okay. Everyone's opinion is welcomed here, (Smile) people here can just be very fierce about it. (Especially when it comes to movie bleeders...)

I don't know how new you are to Sweeney Todd, but if you've only seen the film, I would suggest expanding your view beyond the movie. (Getting the OBC is a very good start.)

I was just thinking of suggesting something exactly like that. The chances are that this person is a troll. 4 posts, and half of them are gushing about Depp. And the other two posts mangle the English language just as badly as the ones about Depp did. On another post they spell the word weird "weired" and related "relatted".
Does this "relatted" have to do with coffee? Laughing

Lion King, Mary Poppins, Grease and Oliver I'll accept.
But Sister Act isn't a musical. It's a movie with a couple of songs. And it only has music because the characters are a choir singing them.
The Muppets are not a Broadway musical either. They are a tv show with some music and some movies with a few songs.
Cats, I'm fine with that being part of your answer, a legitimate musical (even though I personally hate it).
But if you're going to talk about a musical, learn how to spell its title!

As a side note, your posts are pretty much borderline incoherent because of their lack of punctuation. You say you're not a troll, but the signs point towards it. Add in some punctuation and correct spelling and people are more likely to take you a bit more seriously. If you want to type that when you're texting/im-ing your friends (or even on different site where that sort of thing is tolerated), I'm quite alright with you doing so.
There is a time and a place for everything, and after several people have told you off for it is not a good time for chatspeak.

I'd say the verdict is troll.

(Oh, and sorry about the double post. The fangirl posted while I was posting the first time.)
mycosys

It is interesting that many of you appear to find it necessary that one be able to elocute in order to have a worthwhile opinion. Decrying one with literary skills less than yours does not make you a better person, nor does it make them a troll, infact the trolling behaviour in this thread has certainly not come from the OP.
There are many reasons why a person may not be able to express well in a textual context, but you presume a person is a troll for this reason?
Thank goodness those of this thread are not in the least representative of the theatre industry, its players performers and crew.
We value diversity, encourage expression in all its forms, and attempt to educe, not crush or challenge those who do not express as well as we.
Would you not be better served expressing a differing opinion, attempting to inform, rather than showing outstanding pettiness and cliquishness.
The industry needs more proponents and fans, not less, those who profess an interest should be encouraged, not turned away, or it will be the death of our art.

It is impossible to believe that you "neva went to school much". If you hadn't gone to school, you would have been picked up by the truancy officers. You also say that is if you are no longer in school. Which I will not believe (unless you lie on your profile), as it states that you turned sixteen in February. And even if you "neva went to school MUCH" you still would have gone enough to learn basic grammar conventions. That is early elementary school stuff.

To adress the issue of spelling, it's the total lack of punctuation that was the biggest problem. It doesn't take an advanced college degree (or even a high school diploma) to realize that a block of text ought to have a few periods and commas somewhere.

And also, don't whine about how you're "tyred" of people making fun of you. From your posting history, we have no reason not to be thinking less of you from this thread. And where is the logic in being depressed by things said to you by people online that you have never met and are likely to never meet?! Grow a thicker skin.

Like yourself?
I note you are the prime troll in this thread, attempting deliberately to insult, deride and divide.

And incidentally, i saw the second edit of your earlier post. I am not she, tho i am a friend - were i she i would be using tor to obscure the fact i am posting fro the same public IP, something which i see no reason to do. She is posting from my network, is staying with me, and is using one of my machines.

And yes, i have much to learn , otherwise i would not be studying my degree after finishing my trade and advanced diploma. Evidently you think you know all, are the binar of all literary knowledge, and hence have nothing more to learn. You could not be more wrong.

Fortunately i know from crewing many productions (sound/lighting enginneer, lighting design, etc) that you are in the minority of both those involved, and of those in fandom of the theatrical arts. Were this not the case our art would be long dead, as all those interested who did not already hold their bachelors in performing arts would be turned away.

There would be no funding, no audiences, no productions. You and your (minority) ilk do us all a vast disservice.

To reiterate - a troll is one who attempts to create fights and division on a puplic forum, this is certainly not the OP

I'd give you a bit of leeway for your background, but even under those circumstances, you would know damn well that the word "never" does not end in an "a" and a bit of punctuation goes somewhere. And if you're taking year 10 courses, you know enough to type without looking like a total idiot.
And secondly, I'm not sure if I even believe your story. If those truly were the circumstances, you would not have been exposed to the musicals you claim you have been.

She is no longer in school, but is studying. Not sure where you get this age from.
And why would every person learn what you did? nobody has things happen in their lives which prevent them being able to study, mess with their young minds etc? oh yes, of course they do, many of them go on to become writers, inspired by these early events to express, and often self educated later in life - without them all we would have would be gilbert and sullivan.

You are free to judge a person on a few words, and their grammar - but it reflects poorly on you, not she. You have no idea what has happened elsewhere, so grow a little empathy - one who is involved in the arts ought to have been exposed to enough to have their horizons widened sufficiently to see many views, evidently you are either too small minded, or just an insufficiently read/exposed posuer

c) She knows how to spell 'properly expressing' but not 'never'. What is that, like a lucky guess?

d) Stop trying to make yourself and your girlfriend the victim. It's funny that you're calling me a hypocrite when you and johnnydeppfan are here to clearly cause trouble.

If she is able to do a year ten course, she knows enough to know not to end never in an "a". To have reached that level you need to know a bit of something.

You tell me not to attack people and you're the one calling me an ass and mastachen a troll. I was merely stating that in those circumstances, it is highly unlikely that "the tormented" would be able to pay for tickets to see a musical.

"Crackwhore" has kind of come to be a generic term for a female druggie, not necessarily even one who uses crack.

MY post shows prejudice?! Look at you! Telling people off for "attacking" people and being hypocrites and doing more of both than the other people posting on this thread!

Okay, I honestly think that all of this has gone on long enough. d'oh!

Certainly not
One person came here hoping to find community - she found derision instead.
She showed another - long part of the community this purports to represent, and they found this abhorrent.
I hope not to cause trouble, but perhaps to give some of you some fact, and some perpective into the lives of others, other countires, and into the actual industry.
Merely because two people associate, they do not require the same level of education. That would be intellectual bigotry. Someone with an intellect can see around a lack of education, and see intelligence (or its absence)

No, but in most places they are implemented differently and with less of an iron fist Alternates, encouragement, and enducements are provided - we know that creating criminals does little

Your mathematical skills are apparently as bad as your comprehension skills - 1990 was 18 year ago this year

But it does take being taught that - if ones skills are primarily oral it is not a vast consideration.

you clearly dont understand the meaning of the word then. A clean slate gives much more to educe than one already rigidly locked in the boxes created by formal education.

and yet, here you all are, offended that someone loves johnny depp???

I'm not trying to argue her age! Her age is totally irrelevant! At the time I didn't think my slight mathematical error was going to cause such an issue. If I'd have know, I'd have thought about the number and written it correctly the first time.

You say that a clean slate gives much more to educe. From the vapid quality of her original post, I educed that she was a troll, as she is.
And nothing she's said since has proved my original educing to be wrong.

It was not the fact that she loves Johnny Depp that offended us. It was the way in which she stated it. Her attitude afterward has not helped in the least. If she had come here, stating she loved Johnny Depp, in an intelligent way with supported reasons, all of this would not have occured.

I spose of the actions, not the person, with respect to mastachen. Trolling is trolling, no matter who you are
With respect to yourself - the implication is that assumption makes one appear an ass (incidentally, a donkey - we speak english here). It would appear that not only the oppressed are thin skinned here.

I have not judged you, merely your actions.
I have attacked purported facts and opinions, not people.

excepting that you dont know the meaning of the word - educe means to bring out someones positive potential - it is the (bastardised) root of education.
I think you have confused it with deduce.

I'm not "dicating the entry requirements for a course". I'm merely stating that anyone that far into their education ought to know AT LEAST a small bit of grammar.

I was not offended by you calling me an ass, I was merely stating that it and what you said to masta were both attacks against users. Judging a person's actions is what we who have been criticizing you have been doing. We have nothing to go by but what you show us, and that is what we criticize.

And how is crackwhore particularly offensive? She called the same person something far worse. Something that was blocked by mdn's auto-censors. She called her mother much worse than a crackwhore.

y10 is the start point for adult general education in this state, and afaik most of Australia- one does not require a great deal of education on any level to enter - merely to graduate. Bear in mind to that our study year goes with the calendar year, this is the start of the course.

I see a marked difference - the opening of this thread was that someone was judged as a troll for noting a love of something, and roundly lambasted. I judged attacking as attacking, and attacked those attacks.

Cultural differences - and the hypocrisy of family. Something you say about someone you are close to is a completely different thing if said by someone else. And crackwhore is not a common word here.
mycosys

Eirc - you and a FEW others here appear to be reasonable people
It is unfortunate we have 'met' in these circumstances - where i saw both a person i care deeply about, and an art i love, under attack. I dont think it unreasonable to defend both.
Without love we have no art.
Without fans (even fangirls - not that this was one) we have no commercial viability, we have no money for equipment or production, we have little incentive to persue a profession in the performing arts.
