I know you must get this a lot, but... audition help?Ello, ello! I know you get this a lot but here I go. I'm 16 years old and a mezzo- alto 2 trying out for the part of Bet at a local theatre of mine. I've always admired Oliver! greatly, even before I got into my theatre craze and finally I found a company auditioning for it.
Now, I need to find the perfect audition song. Any recommendations from anyone that has casted/been casted for this role? I've already tried "I won't grow up" and that's not good. I was thinking either "My New Philosophy" from Charlie Brown or "I Know Things Now" from Into the Woods.
This is a new leaf for me since this is my second audition into community theatre outside of my high school and my first audition wasn't good. Mostly on appearence. The only big thing I've ever done was been an Audrey II puppeteer and got a perfect score from Papermill, but I have plenty of singing experience. So, any suggestions?

I, myself am currently in Oliver.
My New Philosophy could be good, but you could probably find a better song. What about "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" from The Sound of Music? It shows a range, I think.
I'm not too good with ranges, though. I'm okay at picking audition songs. Someone else on here could probably help you more, such as MaryMag or Salome.
Feel free to make this post in the "Audition Song" Thread. You'll get a better response. Unfortunately, this board isn't very active.

Could you maybe sing "Just You Wait" from My Fair Lady. Don't really remember the range at the moment. But it shows spunk and has the accent.

Bet in OliverI was just in Oliver! a month or so ago. I was also Bet! She's a wonderful character, just make sure if you get her you do great things with her. Oftentimes shes so overshadowed by Nancy people forget that she's got a life too. I auditioned with "Sarah Brown Eyes" from Ragtime, and that got me in a really good place with my range and all that. I, personally, would go with that song. It's great for Bet's range and generally you can work wonders with it. Have fun, hope you get the part!!!

The girl who got Bet in our production of "Oliver!" sang "The Wizard and I" from Wicked ... it's popular, but not really overdone because it's hard to sing right, if you know what I mean ...

Bet is such a drab role. at yourt age try for Charlotte. much more fun.
Bet doesnt have a single line of dialouge.

Yeah, I find it weird that people count Bet as a main part. she sing five lines and doesn't ever say anything.

Don't get your heart set on Bet. I'm currently in a production of Oliver! and I was very sure I was going to get it. I was very hurt when I didn't get the role.
I did, however, get Charlotte and I'm having a lot of fun with that role.
