I know, isn't it? Say, was it the 60s or 80s version? Okay, you wouldn't know by that...hmm, I don't really know the songs exclusive to 60s version...okay, here we go, a way to figure it out. Moon's accomplice. Was she Bonnie or Erma in the production you saw? Just curious.
~JJ, who recently finished an amazing stint as Mrs Harcourt

you cant go wrong with Cole. I both available versions of the show but the 1987 version is better..its also closer to the original 1934 production.

Oh, so you saw the version with "Heaven Hop?" That's the version I did. I've done the show twice. So much fun.

likei said is a good show regardless..but there were too many additions of songs from other shows in the 1962 version..plus two of the only poor songs porter ever wrote..heavan hop and lets step out..were added.
the characters are better developed in the 1987 version and the score is retored closer to the original 1934 version.

I've seen both versions, and I like the '80s version bertter because the '60s version is more like little vignettes than one big plot.
But that's just me.

I just watched the whole thing (1962 version) straight through for the first time tonight (I just got the DVD of the production I was in) and I have to agree that some of the numbers (especially Heaven Hop) are a bit random. But it still was a LOT of fun to be in. And I miss my fellow Angels very much.

Yes, Anything Goes is awesome. My school did it last year, and then we went to see Beaver High School's production. We did the revised edition, which I thought was far better. (It's the one with Bonnie and Heaven Hop instead of...whatever the other version's Bonnie character was named...)
Although, I love the Gypsy in Me!

you.. didnt do the newer revised edition. you did the 1962 version if it didnt have Gypsy in me put back. and the '87 version is much better than the 1962 version.

Er, when we bought the rights they told us to put (Revised) underneath the title?
I thought the original version was with Gypsy in Me...and the other Bonnie character...and then they revised it and added Heaven Hop and Let's Step Out. Did they revise it again maybe? Cause, as far as I know, the original had Gypsy in Me and the other Bonnie character.
Personally, I liked our version far better. The one with Gypsy in Me I thought was too absurd and just weird. The whole dog story line to get the beard I thought was really weird. Granted, cutting Mrs. Harcourt's jacket was kind of silly too, but I like the version we did better.
And, I liked Heaven Hop better than whatever song Bonnie sang in the other one.
Although, I definately liked the crew song. Why didn't they keep that in?? And I liked that Whitney had a bigger part...because the guy that played Whitney for us was amazing but we couldn't count on him to be there all the time because of wrestling so he had a smaller part than he would have.
I was late getting to Beaver's production, because we got lost...we walked in during I get a kick out of you...How come that was in the beginning and not right before the end of the first act?

the show was written in 1934.
it was revived with some added songs from other cole porters shows..while it cut others in 1962.
it was revised again in 1987...the best versiuon .theo ne where erma(boonnie) sings the far superior Buddy Beware..which was one of Reno's songs in the original 1934 version.
Gypsy in Me was originall Hope's song in 1934..it was cut from the 1962 version and added back..this time for Evelyn in 1987.
the characters...and relationships in the 1987 version are far better develooped than they are in the 1962 version..where reno's only purpose is to sing and be a line of denense for Billly against Eveyln.
Heaven Hop was written for a revue Porter did in 1929. He never really liked the song..and i cant blame him.
