I just got cast as Hero!

We are doing "Funny Thing..." at our college--and I just got cast as Hero. This is really going to be fun because I have been use to playing one type of part for so long--and now I will actually get to play something different.

Tell me if this sounds interesting...
We are doing our play design as Rome with a Sixties Twist... Phillia will be a flower child, Lycus will be dressed as a pimp, and there are other little things that will be thrown in. I didnt like this idea at first, but when I think about it--I think our production will be more unique than any production ever done.

That's amazing! Congratulations! Hero sounds like such a fun role...My boyfriend is Hero in his high school's production right now, so I get to hear all the fun angles. And the '60s thing sounds interesting...I'd love to see pics.

And another random thing...in the production my boyfriend is in, the Pseudolus is a girl (who is also another of my good friends). However, she's playing it as a guy. But futhermore, she's singing at least part of the music in the female octave? Does this sound strange to anyone else?

Actually it's not uncommon. I thought it might be a possibility in our show, but as much as I think it would be interesting.....thank God it didnt turn out like that.

Thank you... This is the weirdest audition process that I have ever been involved in, I was in the running to be Hysterium--but then the music director wanted to me sing a few of Hero's songs...Needless to say, I blew everyone else out of the water. It's going to be fun...

Yeah, definitely keep me updated...it's quickly become one of my favorite shows!

Normally I'm very iffy about shows being done in a more 'modern' time setting if they're more in the period genre, but that actually sounds really cool! After all, Forum is a farcicle comedy, and I think that the 60s feel may add to the comedy of the show. Also, baby boomer audience members will probably love it! But are you doing it as a 60s kind of thing, or are you combining 60s and Rome? The Rome+60s might be a little odd, but I'm sure it'll be very enjoyable Smile And congrats on the great role!
