The first time I saw fiddler was in '01 when the tour came to the palace theater in louisville,ky with Theodore Bikel. I had a really bad seat in the balcony and couldn't see or hear the cast so i'm not going to comment on that show. Next, I saw it at the Derby Dinner Playhouse in clarksville,in in '04 which is a local theater. It was not so great for two main reasons: 1. The Tevya, Paul Kerr, had the right build, but could not do the accent 2. Fiddler on the roof is not a show that works well in a theater in the round ! the last time I saw it was in this past augest at the jewish community center in louisville,ky. That was certaintly the best version that I have seen. The Tevya, Monty Fields, was amazing. He lloked exatly as tevya should, was a great actor, and had a unique (but good) voice. Another performer who I liked was the perchik understudy. His "now I have everything" sounded just like the original cd. Here are two pics of the cast:
