I have a reeeaaallly dumb question about Madame Giry. Embarassed
How do you pronounce Giry? Is it Giry as in Gold? Or Giry as in Jelly?
Bear with me, I know this is something I should allready know.
Confused
Thanks!

Yes, that is how you pronounce it.

Veel Liefs,
Jemima Very Happy

Yeah. Soft G. We were reading it in French just recently and my French teacher kept pronouncing it with a hard G, and I just wanted to beat her over the head with the book.

The G is pronounced like SH (as in Shit Very Happy ).

The pressure of the word should be on the last syllable

The R sould be as the French pronounce it (guttural)

Which basically gives us the name Shee-REE (thanks to my French stepfather Smile )
