Hello. I recently tried out for my my high school production of The Music Man. I tried for a supporting role, but I only got the part of a Salesman, Russ. Can anyone tell me anything about that part. such as Lines, singing parts, dancing etc. Anything is helpful. Thank you.

The salesman are in the first scene Rock Island. It is supposed to be on a train. The song is basically speaking, but it gets faster and is all about timing. I am currently a salesman in the musical, and we open this week. The song is not very difficult, but you have to learn the timing. Once it is memorized, repitivity is essential.

That is the only time they are featured in the play, but at the end Charlie Cowell, who is in the first scene, returns to the show. Otherwise, the salesman are just the opening scene for the show.

You might also double as chorus in the rest of the show. There are lots of bit parts with one or two lines that they might also give you.

Exactly. That is what I am doing right now. The music is not that difficult, and there are alot of little parts that are only one or two lines near the end of the play.
