Is that such a bad thing? The film came out two years before I was born yet I only saw it today finally. I've never seen it on stage though I sent my dad and stepmother to see the revival in London with Topol about 10 years ago.

I didn't like the ending.

Well, admitting it is step one to solving the problem.

The ending of the movie's too long. Ending of the musical isn't as drawn out, so it's more emotionally effective. It's great.

WHAT didn't you like about the ending?

I love the film and saw it for the first time in 7th Grade Music class.

I saw the revival on Broadway with Alfred Molina and loved it.

I'm going to see the show again in April.

The ending was nowhere. That's what was wrong with it.

I agree I should have seen Fiddler before.

Is it wrong of me to find the Jewish nuances funny? Yente in particular was just so funny to me it was unreal.

For me, one of the most poignant things about the movie's ending was the bedridden old woman whose bed was pushed along a muddy road. There were other touches like someone helping another to right a cart or suitcase that tipped over in the mud. The nasty winter weather underscores the pogrom's cruelty. I don't think it drags on too long, and I like the way the Fiddler followed Tevye and his family off-screen, even if it was at a distance.

I first saw the movie in 1973, the year GayBoy was born; by then Norma Crane (Golde) had died. I've had the video (VHS) since 1989, but haven't watched it in a long time. I don't know whether or not it's worth getting the DVD.

The movie dropped 2 songs: "Now I Have Everything", apparently because Paul Michael Glaser (Perchik) couldn't sing and director Norman Jewison didn't want any ghost singers; and "The Rumor", I don't know why. Bits and pieces of other songs and dialog were tightened up a little, but not so severely as to take anything away.

All these Years and I always wondered what happened to Norma Crane.so sad that she died so young.

Leonard Frey..Motl in the film died in the mid 80s from AIDS.

and the reason The Rumor was cut was because it's a filler song..for a scene change. and it was deemed too 'theatrical" for the film version.

It's okay GayBoy. I just have seen maybe 30 mins of it? Although my family has it on DVD!

We also have West Side Story...and I haven't seen that much of it either!
