I don't know whether to applaud or cover my ears...

Can someone please shed some light on what they did when they heard this? lol

What the judges thought of it? From what I remember, I think they liked her.
SomeoneLikeYou

They did like her, especially Simon. He said that she was like Sarah Brightman...which he meant as a compliment, but what sopranos on MdN would consider an insult!

The rest of them were basically shocked at how high she could go and said she should try opera, I think...
Mistress

She definitely has the potential, but definitely needs the training.
High-baritonne

I agree, she has potential, but she could use a lot of training, and her vibrato was annoying.
lottielou22

She really does sound like Sarah Brightman.
I remember one of my friends telling me that a girl on American Idol with blue hair sang The Phantom of the Opera...
kozafluitmusique

an octave and a half or so too high...and it wasn't too bad. there's worse.
Disney-Bway27

Yeah, I remember her getting a ticket to Hollywood but she was eliminated in the first round of hell week.

Ah well.

Personally, I covered my ears. The notes were right, but her vibrato is atrocious....
Muscialperformer92

I thought WOW what a voice Very Happy! It sounds wonderfull! to bad she's in the wrong competition- american idol aint for opera- or even musical theatre singers. Think about how many times they say"you are too broadway" .. Razz but I think she has the voice to make a career Very Happy she just need to change her look- punk doesn't fit opera that well (sorry- but thats just the way it is). Smile but I liked her voice alot!
Proud Dork

That vibrato is just horrible. She does, as far as I can tell, anyway, have high potential...sad thing is, if she lived up to it and became a phenomenal singer, the style still wouldn't be the kind of thing suited for American Idol.
music is my life!!!

not toooo bad, actually better than i sing it. i'll give her that, but her vibrato's annoying. however, she was very in tune Cool
RTTugger32

Remind me to do two things if she becomes famous:

1. Don't have me running the sound board in any show she appears in,

and

2. If I have to be on the sound board, not to wear a headset.

(Seriously...they'd probably put it on the sound guy even if her singing put the little needles beyond the red...)
RTTugger32

However, I do love how Randy Jackson "turtled" when she hit that high note. Smile
Heavylove

Her voice has a lot of potentital but her high yell tones made me jump back and laugh. Would have been much better if she skipped that part.

Makes me wounder if I can find the same type off auditions for Cats...
AzelmaCombeferre9430

She definantly sang like if an octave up an probably the wrong key too. She needs more training. her voice does have some good raw talent though.
SomeoneLikeYou

That song is high enough as is. The fact that she sang it up an octave puts it beyond Glitter and Be Gay range.
Christine_Magdalene_Peron

iughhhhhhhhhhh it isnt about singing as high as you can, it is about to sing as well as you can, and if you can sing high and well you better not sing that high. i beleve she could be good, but not now. She need urgent trainning.
ChandelierGirl

Her vibrato really made me want to puke. Other than that, I wish I could sing that high.
mselphiethropp109

Honestly? I thought my ears were bleeding. Brick wall I think the vibrato was definitely excessive. And AI is soooooo not for show tunes, unfortunately.
Victoria Kitty

As soon as she started to go high, I had to turn the speakers off. The vibrato is really annoying, but i think if she wanted a career in the music business and got trained up a little bit she could possibly pull it off.

Re: I don't know whether to applaud or cover my ears...

Dear "TPotO" Fans,

I just watched the video, and I think that even though her strange and wild outfit was the first thing that I noticed abut her, her voice was good, if slightly shrill and obvious.

Thanks in advance for your replies.
