I'd Give My Life for YouI'm going through a Miss Saigon obsession now, anyways
The first time I heard this song...I was speechless. The music is so moving and the lyrics are so full of emotion. All combined with Lea Salonga's voice, and you have my newest favourite song. I really felt so much for Kim - she had such a loving, tender tone in her voice that (If I were her son) would make me believe she will be there for me. And what she is saying is comming from her heart. You can also relate to this song so much because of all the tragedies you hear about in the world right now. It's a real song.
I wanted to know what everybody thinks of this song? If they had simmilar (or dissimilar) thoughts or emotions when you heard this song performed the first time.

That's a quite biased poll.

How do you add an option to the poll?

Omg, finally someone who sees the same beauty in this song as I do. "I'd Give My Life For You" is in my opinion, one of the most beautiful songs and one of the most depressing in the world. Everytime I hear it, I start crying, no matter how I'm feeling prior to listening. No other song in the world better expresses a parent's love for a child. I love this song!

Oh gosh-I TOTALLY agree! I saw this play in Pennsylvania last year-and I have to say this song was SO incredibly moving and beautiful I couldn't stop crying during it. It has to be one of the most amazing songs ever written.

I believe it's one of the best songs Schonberg and Boubil have done in their career-it's very heartfelt and sincere. I have heard others sing it too, and one or two even coming close to Lea Salonga, but none beats the original Kim of Miss Saigon.
I know a high school is doing it in my city this year, and I'm cringing at the prospect of how they could easily mess up this song. I mean, it's highschool and chances are that the person singing it has not had a baby (I hope) so may not fully understand the song. I realize that Lea Salonga did not have a baby at the time she first recorded Miss Saigon, but she was exceptional-and also trained.
