HSM 3... ouch.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFEGeo1ZTnQ

Not too keen, will probably catch onto it as I listen to it.
kozafluitmusique

ouch is just the beginning..

It sounds like a really shitty knockoff of one of those songs in Rent where Mark whines about not wanting to become commercial.
Bristian

I am honestly really super duper excited for it.

While everybody complains about it, look at it for what it is. It is a musical, meant for young children, that is about being yourself and having self-esteem. But, on top of all of that, it is just meant for fun. That is all. And everybody has to have a little bit of fun with it. It is corny and cheesy, which is part of its appeal.

*gets ready for the bashing*

I am not going to lie.... I am a little excited for it but in the ad where Gabriella stands up in the middle of a crowd and sings to Troy who is in the middle of a basketball game is kind of ridiculous... but oh well. Other than that it looks pretty good. I just hope it is at least better than the 2nd movie which was about the worst thing ever! The first at least had a bit of substance.
Brock07

Everyone does realize that this is High School Musical we are talking about here right????

It's allowed to be cheesy. It's supposed to be cheesy. That's part of the fun for me. I watch it and say, wow....thats ridiculous...but that's ok. It's not Sondheim. It's Disney.

I hope Dawn doesn't read this post....she's gonna shoot me. lol
ActingDude17

Run, Brock, run! Run while you still can!
~GertrudeMcFuzz~

Haha the trailer is hilarious. I don't plan on seeing it, but I do have to say that my favorite part is Gabriella standing up randomly in the middle of the bleachers. Smile
nabla

I watched them when they were on TV, but i don't think i could ever go and see one in a theatre
<3Wilson<3

That part reminds me of a song, but I just can't put my finger on it.
musical4eva

Haha I just found this. I don't know why I find it so funny.

I see what everyone means about the standing up in the crowd bit. :S
Nettik

To me, it sounds like they put a bunch of cats together and made them say words for "I Want It All."
Brock07

Hey Troy! When's the big game?

Yesterday....

Oh...well Good Luck! Tootles!

HAHAHA
sopranoopianoo

I didn't see the 2nd one, and I'm not going to see the 3rd one.

I guess I probably will eventually... someday... my 7 year old sister is obsessed with it...
wicked_boy

TBF, it looks better "shot" than the other two did,
Baker

I like High School Musical, not gonna lie. The second is terrible, but the first is fun (note: I said "fun," not "excellent, top-notch, brilliant musical theatre," so don't jump down my throat). I'll probably see this. From what we've seen so far, it looks better than the second - although I agree with everyone else that Troy and Gabriella standing and singing in the middle of the game looks pretty bad...

No idea what "TBF" stands for, but I agree - the quality looks better. The quality in 2 was awful, but the first one was passable.
Tumnus1031

*Sigh* High School Musical...one of my guilty pleasures as a person AND a musical theater fan.

I'm not obsessed with it by any means. I AM saying that I enjoy the forgettable bubblegum pop music. Like what Baker said--the films are just a lot of fun. Cheesy Disney musicals at its finest. What DOES bother me about HSM is the phenomona surrounding it. In 7th grade, most everyone (guys included) liked HSM. When the girls in my grade started showing teachers the music videos and watching them everyday on their computers, I got a little sick of it.

I don't hate any of the HSM musicals. Although I'm not quite sure of Disney's intentions (whether its intended to be amazingly cheesy and ridiculous), I certainly hold it as one of the more enjoyable cheesy musicals. Of course I'm not going to hold it on the same platform as Sondheim or ANY other 'legitimate' musical. That would be unrealistic.

At least it preaches good values... *Waits for someone to mention the nude photo scandal*
Sweeney Hyde

Vomitting.
mizzie

So, I listened to it.

My only comment...

I don't think the writers of High School Musical realize that being a star on Broadway =/= magazine ads and movie stardom.

Just fangirls and message boards. Wink
mastachen

Zac Efron sucks at basketball.

Is it so hard to find someone who can sing and act and play basketball?

the fact that Baby was the first thing that came to my mind when I read this post leads me to believe that I'm, at 20, too much of a grandma to see and appreciate this....let alone hold down my lunch.

Matthew

Boring and very predictable. Never listened to it, but I was able to hum the melody pretty much once I listened to the first couple seconds. This isn't how music is supposed to be.

TBF, I think, means 'To Be Frank'. Very Happy Took me a minute there too.
And I agree, the first one was good, not great though, and the second one was complete trash (although I only liked one song, which was 'I Don't Dance', although I found the staging of it incredibly hypocritical.) I'm hoping that HSM3 will be better, if not the best, but the trailer was not promising...

Exactly what I did.
blackbird_fly

Terrible. It's not even catchy! The third movie is going to be even worse than the second.
Elphaba22

I'm excited, ahahaha. i know it's not musical theatre brilliance at all, but it's catchy, and silly, and something to go see at the movies.

Can sing pop? Who knows. Can sing musical theatre? Probably pretty hard. How many straight guys do you know that can sing MT material, pass for a high schooler, and play basketball?

That being said....LOL. Smile
Matthew

I know how to play basketball and can sing.

Zac Efron's straight? Confused
Monsieur D'Arque

If not straight, at least committed enough to his passing for it that he's okay with getting Howard Johnsons from his lady friend Vanessa on the beach in all those photographs.
Lepitot

Howard Johnsons? I'm not familiar with that term. But, if it's what I think it is...I don't know what pictures you are looking at...

Anyway, the song is terrible. As are the lyrics. And what the hell does Ashley Tisdale think she is doing? She sounds horrible. As do the computers that are changing her voice to make it sound "good".

The first HSM at least had some real music. HSM 2 had like 2 decent songs (musically, anyway) and now this one appears to be all badly written hip hop trash with really crappy lyrics and bad vocals.
Monsieur D'Arque

Howard Johnsons- Pennsylvania backronym. Howard Johnsons, when they were still common, were abbreviated HoJos, or HJs.

And the paparazzi photos commonly show Vanessa and Zac groping each other on the beach in some decidedly non-Disney positions.
Lepitot

Strange...I'm from PA and have never heard that.

Anyway, out of all the pictures, only one of them seems at all family unfriendly. Most of the pictures just show them standing next to each other, holding hands, or occasionally kissing.

I'd say Zac's probably a closet case and Disney wanted them to date so he did what he was asked. That's my guess, I'm not saying it's true.
