HS Pippin Auditions coming up -- Thinking Catherine?I have my High School auditions for Pippin coming up, and I'm starting to think of an audition piece. I'm not very familiar with the play, but I'm thinking Catherine. I really need a standout piece because I'm sure the director has already precast this show. So, I need something to make her reconsider me. I'm a soprano with a lot of volume, but I can also sing mezzo. I would love something that not only massively fits Catherine, but also shows off both my lower and upper ranges, while also showing some technique. I want to avoid anything too operetic. But, mostly I just need something to make my director think of my as Catherine. Any suggestions?

Hmm... I'm not too familiar with Catherine, since I'm trying out for Fastrada for the production at our school. Even though it's from POTO, might "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" work? Because it has both the lower and upper ranges in the song.

Well im not a big fan of Catherine, but i saw a few productions where the Leading Player is a female. So if you are a soprano id say look into that.

At this point, I'm thinking "I'm not that girl" from Wicked. I know stuff from Wicked is usually a no-no for auditions because it's over done... but my school really wouldn't care. Any opinions?

First, your high school is doing Pippin??? Oh my.
If any high school did Pippin in this region, we would have a huge uprising. Of course, I live in the Bible Belt. Everything is Rodgers and Hammerstein, I cant stand it. Even Community Theatres cant do things that push the envelope a litte.
I would reccomend you not sing a "Wicked" piece...do something different. Sing something different from Schwartz (Minus Disney stuff) like something from Godspell. "Day by Day" or something like that.
