How to Succeed in Business Without Really TryingOk, so a college in my area is doing this for their spring show and I'm seriously considering auditioning for it. I did Guys and Dolls with them last spring (& was the youngest person cast) and the director and music director seemed to like me, but I was just too young to play a lead.
I'm wondering if you guys know if there is any part for me, or should I just aim for the chorus?
I'm about 5'8, have brown hair, and I have a pretty big range (2 notes away from 3 octaves) I'm most comfortable doing legit soprano stuff, but I sing alto in choir (my high notes don't blend well) and have a decent mix-belt in my middle range. To see some of my previous parts, see my signature. I'm also a pretty confident dancer too, if that helps. I really just don't know a lot about this show and getting a hold of any copy of it will prove difficult since a lot of other people will be researching it too.
If someone knows where I could find some good character descriptions that would be helpful too.
And I've already googled this, so don't think I'm not doing my own research- I am.

Oh, I forgot to mention I'm only 15, so heavy romantic leads are kind of out of the question since the guys will probably all be a great deal older than me. What part does Smitty have in the show? (she wasn't in the synopsis I read)

I'm sorry to say that at the age of fifteen I would seriously doubt you're right for any of the name characters in the show...especially against college age kids. However I will say that when we did the show a few years ago...(adult professinal theatre)...we did have one of the secretaries that was sixteen. And it is a fun ensemble to be in if nothing else.

Ok thats cool, I had a blast being in the chorus for Guys and Dolls so I'll just shoot for one of the secretaries. Thanks guys!

Sorry to bump, but I didn't see a point in making a new thread.
Does anyone have any song suggestions?? I'm a soprano, and some songs I have in my rep that are possible choices- They Can't Take that Away From Me, I Can Hear the Bells, Caberet. I'm willing to learn a new one as well, so any suggestions would help immensely!

Try posting this on the Auditions thread. It'll get more attention there.
Cabaret might be okay. Or maybe some other Frank Loesser song (perhaps from Guys and Dolls or Most Happy Fella).
