How to Approach Auditions?

Hey Everyone,

Like the story of many many other girls here, my high school decided to up and do BBB for the Spring Musical... This year, there's a brand new director that's running and casting the show, so my previous experience under my old director isn't going to do me any favors. This time, it's an even playing field...

Anyway, drawn out story aside, auditions are on Monday, and I have no idea of how to approach them.... My knowlege of BBB is slim to nothing at this point, but there's an informational meeting where everyone is screening the movie. This year, I'm really interested in a lead role, or at least a minor supporting character. All in all, I'll accept anything, even if it's just chorus line, but I'd really like to shoot for more than that this year.

**What I don't know however is whether to list major characters of interest (Kim, Rosie, etc.) or audition as "me" and take whatever the director gives me?**

While I'm not in choir, I believe that I'm an alto. About 5'6'ish, with fair skin and dark brown hair. Problem is, I can't dance the greatest...

As far as I know, music from BBB will be handed out at the meeting tomorrow for everyone to learn, and then auditionees will be judged on their preformance of the song next week. Any advice or insight is appreciated. Thanks.

i hope this isn't too late. My school did BBB last summer and i understudied for kim. The most important thing in this show is that practically everything is cutesy and its a very family friendly show. Kim is a saprano and Rosie (I believe) is an alto. The dancing, in our show at least, was not difficult at all and the dancing itself is really only for chrous. The music is relatively easy to learn as well. Anyway, I'm sure you'll do fine. Just remember the time period ( 1950's) and to really show that personality. I would definitely write down the roles you're interested in, just make it clear that you'd be willing to accept other roles. My fingers are crossed for ya. I hope this helped Very Happy
