How much to rent Rent?

Hello all,
I've been throwing around the idea of putting up a production of Rent this Christmas. Is anyone currently involved with a production that can tell me in what ballpark the price of royalties for the show is?

MTI will give you a free quote if you do it through them by filling out the form.

I'm guessing/assuming really expensive considering the rghts came out about three months ago.

correct me if Im wrong, but since when does a show's popularity affect how much you pay for performance rights? i always thought theres a standard fee and it's only more if you need extra libretti or music books - or if the show comes with a bigger rental package... Question

I know Beauty and the Beast cost more than most shows when we did it. I don't know if that has to do with the rental package or the popularity. I mean, according to the rules of supply and demand, it makes sense to jack the price up!

Actually I heard/agree with Brock07. Apparently older less popular shows are cheaper.

I heard Sweeney Todd was very expensive - I don't think it's a fixed price.

Costs

MTI takes a TON of factors into account.
How large your theatre is.
How much your tickets are.
If you're paying your people.

The royalties for us (we're doing it in two weeks) are a lot less than you'd think. Ours were $110 a show - plus you pay a rental and deposit fee.
