How Many Acts?

On MTI it says that it is a one act show...here, however, the synopsis divides it into two acts. Which is it (I've never seen the show but I do like the cd.)? Thanks!

Re: How Many Acts?

Two acts.

My high school is doing it right now.
Brother Marvin Hinten, S.

It was written as a one act, but the licensed version inserts an intermission after, I think, "Morning Glow."

Written as a one act, intermission taken between "With You" and "Spread A Little Sunshine", or between the "The Flesh" and "Revolution" sections.

New version released by MTI has an intermission right after the court scene with Pippin as King, and right before "Right Track."
I preferred it after "Morning Glow"

The one that my school used was after "Morning Glow".

It makes better sense.
dwarves r very upsetting

When I did the show the director, put in the intermission after Morning glow also. It such a great song. That it makes a great break.

Yeah. I heard an interview with Schwartz. He said that he originaly wrote only one act, but a second cast was written later. Both verisions should be availible.

The version I most recently saw, at my former university, had the intermission right after Morning Glow.

Mind if I ask what university you went to see it?
and that's what my high school did as well.

I've just been to see it in Sydney, Australia where it hasn't been done professionally for 30 or so years and they had intermission after Morning Glow too.

Ohh. Okay. I was just wondering because I know Carnegie Mellon just did it...I have a friend who goes there.
BoundBySound

Yes, we also had an intermission after Morning Glow.

Much like, say, Godspell, there is an alternate ending (an alternate beginning for GSpell) available for Pippin. Which is, in fact, a TINY reprise of Magic to Do to Catherine's son. Also, it inserts an intermission at the end of "Morning Glow" and a reprise of Magic to Do at the beginning of Act One that is about 30 seconds but ushers in the next act.

That is all. It can be played as either but preferrably a 2-Act show considering its length either way. Its about 2:15 without an intermission which is long as hell for a stage show without an intermission. Act 1 is long enough.
