How do I audition for touring companies, etc?

I live in a rather small Texas town and all I have is my community theatre. Is there a way I can audition for touring companies or bigger shows out of town if I can't get there? I can't really afford to go traveling all over on a maybe.

Unfortunately almost all touring companies/broadway/offbroadway or other big productions are going to be cast in whichever city they hail from (mainly new york, chicago, occasionally cities in california or boston or philladelphia or Toronto or even sometimes florida or georgia).

BUT occasionally there are open calls where they will let you send in a video submission to be considered for a show...this is very rare but it does happen-

the problem is that if they like you they will most likely call you back- and THEN you will have to fly to wherever you have to go for the call.

The only big production that i know of that is accepting video submissions right now is Hairspray. If you go to their website there is information about it.

(Oh and p.s. you can always e-mail your headshot and resume when you see casting calls, with a note saying you can't be there but you wanted to send your headshot/resume for consideration anyways...although it won't do any good if you end up being called back and can't make it.) Sad

Hope that helped! Confused
