How did it happen??Hello! After a lot of reading I know how the musical form developed (more or less), however, in US. Can someone tell me how did it happen that the musical form came back to England from America and became popular. When was it? How did it come from Broadway all the way to London??

Musical theatre existed in London pretty much the same time as in the US. I mean, as far as I know many of the first musicals had London casts (I know this because I have the cast recordings). It would be interesting to find out which American, Broadway musical was the first to open in London.

So how was it?I know that musicals developed mostly in America, in the colonial times most important influence was from Britain. So it all started in America and then came back to London? Can someone write me what was going on in Britain at that time, because I am writing about London musicals mostly, so I cannot mention only the information connected with American stage. I think so...
