I was just casted as a nun in SOM. I'm not all that familiar with the stage show as I am the movie, and I heard that they get much more music. Is that true?

I know there's hardly any dancing for them, and that most of the songs they sing are in latin, but is that ensemble worth while? (I'm going to stay with it no matter what. I need something to do this summer... )

Chances are good that you will also be in the party scene as well...

But yes...being a nun is basically ensemble...Unless you get to sing "How Do You Solve..."

I personally think the nuns have some of the best music in the show. 4-part and 6-part treble harmony, some of it in Latin -- what's not to love?! Okay, that's my church choir background showing ...

To answer your question, yes, there is a lot more music for the nuns in the stage show than in the movie. No dancing, unless you are also in the party scene, in which case there may be a little waltzing. But really, except for the Captain, Maria, or the Von Trapp kids, everyone spends a lot of time sitting around backstage. It isn't a great ensemble show, but I'm sure you'll have a great time doing it!

And I'm going to have to say it, since no one else has yet. It's cast, not casted.

The nuns have the most beautiful music in the show. When done correctly, it sounds simply wonderful.
