Homework Help - Who's Your Favorite Character?So I'm doing a project for Creative Writing - What qualities do people look for when choosing a favorite character? I figured that you guys could help me with this one, after all, the conclusion sounds more realistic when you have actual facts or the support of others to back it up. So if you could please post who your favorite character is and then post why you like them it would be a big help.
And, no, you're not doing my project for me, I've already done most of it, I just thought having this would help make my project better.

Here's an example of what I would like:
My favorite character is Roger. I'm very passionate about finding the cure for HIV and AIDS. But I've found that what most people don't understand is that anyone could be affected with HIV. One time, I asked someone to participate in an AIDS walk with me, but they said, "Why would I want to do that? Mostly gay people get AIDS." Mean comment, I know, but I'm not making this up. Another time, when I asked someone to donate to the cure for AIDS, they responded, "Well, if people didn't sleep around all the time, they wouldn't get AIDS, now would they?" Well, I like Roger because he's normal, but he has HIV. He isn't gay and he was in love with the person who gave him HIV, not just sleeping around. I can use him as an example when people say mean comments. That's what makes him my favorite character. Oh, and he has a cool voice.
That isn't so bad, is it? It doesn't even have to be that long, as long as you make it clear to me who you choose, and especially why you choose them.

My current favourite is Mark- though it does tend to change quite often.
I like Mark becuase I identify most with him (as a lot of people have pointed out on various MB's- you're SUPPOSED to identify with Mark), but I really do see a lot of me in him (sometimes more than I like).
I like him because he is the "normal" member of the group- he doesn't have AIDS, he isn't gay, he's not using, but he accepts his friends anyway. He loves people that our society tells us we shouldn't. I identify with his detachment, his way of communicating with his friends, and his lonliness in the midst of a group. His character is very human (though I think they are- with the exception of the film's portrayal of Benny), and I think you can argue that he changes very little (comparitively speaking) over the course of the story. But that's realistic, and I like that about. He's also free, and unafraid, he knows what he believes in, and when played right he can be very funny.

My favorite character is Angel. I just love him! He's so generous, he has a good heart, and he is the ONLY one of the characters who never fought with anyone during the entire musical/movie. Sure, he kicked a cop, but it was self-defense. And he wasn't afraid to be different. As Wilson Jermaine Heredia said, he is the emotional core of the musical. And HE is one of the main reasons I watch it so often, just to see him do his singing, dancing, and just being a pure Angel.
After the riot, when he first meets Maureen and Joanne and stuff, he's so sweet and you can tell he's a very friendly person. Everyone loved him so much, and that's why they all went to his funeral. And that's why they fell apart after he died. Because at first they just couldn't stand it without him. But then they realized he would want them to stay together as a family, and he did indeed help them to believe in love.

Angel is my faverite character, just because I can relate. I find it very easy to relate to transexuals/tranvesites/crossdressers ect. (I myself am not one, but I'm not going to post my whole life story here.) (If you find yourself riddled with unshakeable couristiy you can PM me) )
I think thats probably why most people pick a faverite character. Because they can relate. Either they can relate to the character's struggle, personality, stituation or simply wish to be more like that character. I can already relate in the mannor mentioned above, but I also wish I could be more like Angel. As Santa_Fe_Angelsgirl said, he's such a good person. I'm... well, I've been called a bad person. Sometimes I wish I could be more of an angel, like Angel.

I love Angel for all the reasons listed above, but I also love Mimi. She is such a strong person and regardless of her faults she is able to live life for all it's worth. There is also something so soft and naive about her that is really refreshing.

I love Collins. A lot of that is because I like Jesse L. Martin. But Collins as a character. He's not afraid of what he is, gay, black, HIV positive. He has most of the minorities right there. But he is also a techy genius. I would like to have his voice and his intellect.

You know, I never even thought of Mimi that way, but it's very true. I read in the Rent book that she left home at fifteen, and in "Out Tonight" she makes references to "where the Spanish babies cry." Really, she is someone who was forced to become a woman much too quickly, but never grew up in other ways.
I like all of the characters, including Collins, Angel, and Mark. I also like Jo-Anne, because she has layers we never get to see entirely.

My favorite charater is probably Angel because it does seem as he did live everyday as his last.

MAUREEN! She is amazing!  I also love Mark and Roger though! Although, I love them all.

I like Mark. He's the everyman--the one you relate to. That's the point of his character as he is the narrator of the show.

I used to be confused between Mark and Roger on who my favorite was, but actually my fave is Maureen because she reminds me of myself. No, I'm not a lesbian, but we both share the love to perform, we can both be bitchy, and we're not afraid to express ourselves. And I love cows. MOO!

My favourite is Mark, closely closely followed by Maureen. Mark is just so cute though! His dancing in the movie is adorable. But my sister loves Angel.

My favorite character is Maureen because she reminds me of me when I get in certain moods and she's very entertaining. I admire her ability to be herself, and her song "Take Me or Leave Me" is awesome.

Maureen. We're exactly alike, except I can't be my MAUREEN-iest, because my parents would shoot me.
And Maureen's kinda detached too. I think that she was afraid of commitment, and that's probably why she and Mark are my favorites.
Though Collins is my big brother, and Mimi's my BEST FRIEND.
If I was in Rent, of course.

I really like Maureen.
She is rebellious and is an easy character to relate to. Her part is just so interesting and I love it. I also love Mark because he's on a mission and I like his personality. All of the characters are great but Maureen is my favorite.
