It was recently announced that four high schools and two colleges had been selected to produce Phantom as their school show. As thrilled as I was to discover that my high school was one of them, I am very concerned. It is one of my favorite shows, but by a high school? I just wanted to hear other peoples' thoughts on this.

I didn't know that the rights for Phantom were out yet?

I know they exist for a version different from the ALW one... Anyone?

This is their way of trying it out. They're basically using us as guine pigs to see if it will work, what would have to change, what is possible, etc.

Are you sure it's the Phantom of the Opera by ALW? Cuz there's another musical called Phantom that's based on the same story.

I'm positive, its been a whole big thing for us. Some one saw our productionof Cats two years ago and were so impressed that they put our name in, and we were confirmed recently, we've had auditions already and everything. Can we stop with the disbelief, trust me, and acctually tell me what you think? I really want to know the opinion of someone outside of the crazy excited/obsessed people at my school.

Whoa relax! It's just that if the rights to a musical such as Phantom of the Opera were released, it most likely would've been widespread news, so excuse us for being a bit skeptical.

I personally didn't like it when I saw it on Broadway, because I didn't like the blocking, so I think it has the potential to look better when high schools do it. I don't know if you're capable of doing all the effects (candles rising up out of the stage, etc), but as long as the actors and actresses don't stand around and do nothing while they sing, then it's an improvement from the Broadway production.

Vocally, it'll be quite a challenge.
