high school musicals (not to be confused with the movie)Our high school just got denied the rights to Chicago.
I'm kind of sad, I was planning on auditioning for the drag queen.
There is a 90% chance that we will do West Side Story.
But there is no one at my school who is hispanic and is involved with drama.
And there is a 10% chance we might be doing 42nd Street!
As most of you know, I have a very hot passion for 42nd Street. And I would so love to be in it because tap dancing is my forte dancing-wise, and I can make my voice do that high annoying squeek thing for We're in The Money! yay! And even if I don't get the lead, there is still other good supporting parts that I would love to do!
So, there's a bunch of useless information!
What musical is your high school doing?

I'm a freshman and we're doing Urinetown at my school. Our first rehearsal was yesterday, so we haven't really done anything yet. I'm in the ensemble. There's some more useless information. Good luck!

I will probably be directing/choosing the show. I will also be in it at somepoint...But I am considering Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd, Jekyll and Hyde, Les Miserales School Edition, Forum, My Fair Lady, Little Shop of Horrors, South Pacific, and Carousel.
Any thoughts?

We're doing The Wizard of Oz... which is a disappointment because we were supposed to do Into the Woods.
It's rough though, because a bunch of schools' shows around here are all on the same weekend and we know leads in every one of them - High School Musical, Honk!, State Fair, and a student-written called Nightmares and Dreams (that last one isn't supposed to be very good though =P).
Next year, we're doing either Little Shop of Horrors, How to Succeed..., or The Music Man.

I've been campaigning with the other teacher who does drama with me to do The Apple Tree for two years. She finally agrees. NOW it's on Broadway. However, we still got it for incredibly cheeeeeep royalties, because it's a limited run. Yay!

We're doing 'West Side Story'. As my profile says...I'm Maria. I'm Jewish. The guy who will most likely be Bernardo...Italian. Our Tony...Italian, not Polish. The majority of our Sharks- black, or very dark white people. We take what we can get. We're praying for the best.

Well, technically it's not my high school, but since I go to an all-girls school, all of the girls in our theater department audition for the spring musical at a nearby all-boys school, and the guys come to our school for the fall musical...but you didn't need to know all of that!
We're doing Grease...not my favorite musical, but whatever...

Fun! I hope 42nd Street works out for you! I'd LOVE to do that show someday!!
In high school, I did West Side Story (I was a random Shark), and Fiddler on the Roof (Fruma-Sarah). I kept on getting crappy roles, which annoyed the hell out of me. Haha, I'm living the revenge now, though. I'm a 2nd year college theatre student at the 3rd best theatre school in the country right now (and the only Cegep on the list...ladeedah!), and am loving every minute! At the beginning of the year, I went back to my old high school to see one of their shows, and the same director who never cast me in good parts asked me to come and work with the kids, directing most of the theatre program. HAHA!! Yay!! tables have turned...

We're doing Oliver! at our school. I must admit, I was sort of dissapointed at first, but now that we're rehearsing, I think it's gonna be really good. Of course, since I'm a sophomore, I'm just an orphan, but that's okay! I think they're gonna give me a solo or two. Last year we did And the World Goes 'Round, and it was quite amazing, especially for having no plot. I like our theater program...

We're doing Fiddler on the Roof this spring, as advertised in my signature. My school is lucky in that we have plenty of talented guys, including an absolute perfect Tevye--they pretty much chose this show expressly for him. Lol.

Well I've just moved schools but am pretty much still involved in drama at my old school (don't ask how =S). They're doing the Sound Of Music
There are two casts, and guess who the two Marias are?
The head of music's two daughters.
Considering neither of them can sing considerably well, and we were told by one of her daughters, "Oh, my mum pretty much knows who everyone's going to get, the auditions are just really to sort of -- finalise"
Everyone's pretty annoyed.

I'm out of school, but my sister's high school(and the one I graduated from) is doing Hello Dolly. The university I graduated from is doing Pippin.

My high school is doing Thoroughly Modern Millie. We started practice on Tuesday and it's coming along very nicely! We learned most of the music already and started working on a dance number. I'm in the ensemble. We're doing this really cool thing for Speed Test and Forget About the Boy in which there are some people on stage dancing (we don't know who yet, probably the stronger dancers) and then everyone else is backstage with chorus mikes and a tv set watching the music director from the pit (those are probably the strongest singers). I can't wait to see which I am, either way its a compliment!

We closed High Society a couple months ago. It was really great, because it didn't feel overdone at all.
